Today was the federal holiday Columbus Day. The traditional Columbus Day is Thursday.
Of course, we all knew that Columbus thought the world was round while everyone else thought the world was flat, as demonstrated in the Merrie Melodies 1951 cartoon Hare We Go.
Only, that’s not how it really was.
Anything you want to clear up? Anything been on your mind? It’s Monday Night Open Thread and that means it’s your turn to control the conversation.
What’s on your mind?

Just think, in about 50 years Muslims will demand all 9/11 memorials be removed.
Yeah but they’ll give us a choice. Remove all those memorials or we’ll remove your heads.
My very first port of call in the Navy was Barcelona, Spain, 1984. There was a statue of Columbus at fleet landing along with a replica of the Santa Maria.

Giuseppe Verdi was born October 10, 1813. Here’s Jan Peerce singing “La Donna e Mobile” from Rigoletto. I remember listening to this close to sixty years ago – possibly not this very performance, but it was definitely Jan Peerce singing this aria.
