I was one of those “lucky” few who actually saw the original run of “The Star Wars Holiday Special”. Even at the time, though, I thought it was kinda dumb & hokey, but no worse than the Star Wars gang appearing on the Muppet Show where Chewbacca dances with R2D2.
What, no Star Wars Rebels in the official story line?
I saw it when it was first aired, too, and it didn’t strike me as horrendous at the time; just a little odd. Now I see they really screwed up by not having Bea Arthur in the kind of slave-girl bikini Princess Leia would wear in RETURN OF THE JEDI.
