When I was a little tyke, maybe even a half-tyke, I thought it would be groovy (we still used he word groovy when I was a half-tyke, roughly translated for the millenials, it means awesome) to be a forest ranger. You got to go play in the woods all day, explain to people how to tell whether that bird soaring above is an eagle or a turkey vulture, and not really have a care in the world, as long as that mischievous bear didn’t steal any pic-a-nic baskets.
astronaut, like many another male of my generation. Very near-sighted. Applied to Marshall Space Flight Center for a summer job (internship maybe) in a lab. Totally fanboyed in my application over Buzz Aldrin who was there then. Never heard from them.
