John Lennon would have been really really old today. If 78 is really really old.
I was upset when he was murdered. He had left the music business to focus on his family, but had returned to the studio and recorded a couple of albums when he was gunned down. It hit me hard.
Anyway, he would have been 78 today.

At the end of several takes of Helter Skelter, Ringo had blisters on his fingers, yelled that out at the end of the last take, and threw the sticks across the room. George Martin liked it and it went on the album.
The only Lenon song I actually liked was “well well well”. Lyrics from that must have taken months to work out.
You will be happy to know Yoko has a released a tribute album in his honor. You will be disheartened to learn she sings on it.
There’s also a six or seven disc box set of the White Album out. Alternate versions, jams, and songs and covers that didn’t make the original release.
I’ve got my eye on the Joe Strummer compilation due in my personal obsessions collection soon, him being my “Elvis Beatles and the Rolling Stones”.
