European Gull Screeching Championship
EuroWeekly News | 22 Apr 2024 | John SmithThe town of De Panne in Belgium hosted the European Seagull Screeching Championships on Sunday, April 21, and there was definitely a Pan-European turn out.
The championship is very much a Belgian-organized affair …
I knew it!
… with categories for adults, children, and groups …
… although the fact that the competition took place in a packed-out bar where the beer was flowing and a comedian was booked to follow the event might indicate a certain tongue-in-cheek attitude …
Is it going to be in the Onolympics?

I need more details… around my parts we’ve had the typical “mine, mine, mine” seagulls for ever. But the last few years we’ve developed a population of thinner, sleeker gulls with thinner wings. These new gulls have a very ugly screech/squawk. Kinda like a fat, angry German woman stepping on a Lego barefoot.
To everything there is a season:
Tern, tern, tern
Walrus’s barefoot German angry woman corridor hardest hit.
But they’re not fat. Think Blocktoberfest with dirndls and not much else.
Training sessions offered by Emu, if you dare…
“No, it’s being hit on the head lessons in here – the Emu is in 217, just along the corridor, behind the sound-dampening walls…”
Emus are silent, and deadly.
But by a judicious application of …uhh… stimulus to certain nether regions, a distinctly gull-like sound may be elicited…
Frank Costanza: “In my mind, I’m still there.”
Odd, the photo did not post.
