I thought Obama had a good response to Letterman when asked if he thought opposition to his agenda was racist: “I was actually black before the election.” Obama knows it’s smart to play down the racism angle, as it’s a huge loser for Democrats. In the future, people might actually be more hesitant to elect a black president (or, at least, a Democrat one) if they feel that means they can’t ever disagree with him without being called racist.
A lot of the opposition Obama now faces is because Obama obviously doesn’t know what he’s doing, has a number of crazy radicals in his staff, and is hugely liberal. The thing is, I thought everyone also knew before election that Obama was inexperienced, hangs with crazy people, and is a socialist. So apparently a lot of people don’t pay attention during the campaign if that all caught them by surprise, so maybe a lot of people didn’t know Obama was black. Maybe the country is just as racist as some people say, and with all of Obama’s recent TV appearances, people have finally seen him for the first time and exclaimed, “What?! The president is black?! I thought Barack Obama was a Swedish name! Well, now I’m going to vociferously oppose everything he is for, because I don’t like the black people.”
Just something we should consider.

Obama also knows that he wasn’t elected based on a single life accomplishment, as he has none, and that a great many of the folks that voted for him did so solely because he is black.
I disagree, Son of Bob. Obama’s promise of “free Oreo cookies for all!” was quite strong.
Don’t forget, before the election most liberals thought Republicans controlled congress, that Sarah Palin said things Tina Fey actually said and that Joe Biden was sane. Most liberals think the word “socialism” simply means “free stuff.” The public was ignorant & misinformed and the left wing news media was more than happy to keep them that way.
I thought he was going to turn us into unicorns and then race would be irrelevant (except the pink ones, I hate those). Is that a no go now?

Actually the name Obama is more correctly spelled O’Bama and comes from an Irish soldier who was working in the Nigerian colony during the reign of Queen Victoria, who may or may not be part of the sitting Presidents pedigree. Therefore, that is an Irish name and not in any way Swedish.
I for one would never vote for a Swede. They have to be dry-cleaned, and liquids like rain can stain or ruin the brushed nap finish. Wait, those are suedes.

The problem is that at least half the country still gets all their news from ABC/NBC/CBS/The NYT, etc. They all knew he was black, what was hid from them is that he is a raving loon, surrounded by wild-eyed reds. If we’d had an honest news media in this country (dream on, Peter) if Obama had been elected not nearly so many people would be angry and aghast because we would have known that Bill Ayers was the most sane and patriotic of his friends and Tony Rezko the most honest. Then, had we elected the jugeared commie we’d at least known we were electing a jug eared commie. Kind of like the Dems made those huge gains in Congress by running to the right of the Repuglicans, then those “conservative” Dems went and voted for Pelosi as Speaker.
