As a public service announcement to all IMAO readers, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you that this weekend is the Texas Sales Tax Holiday:
Texas shoppers get a break from state and local sales taxes on August 5, 6, and 7–the state’s seventh annual tax holiday. Lay-away plans can be used again this year to take advantage of the sales tax holiday.
The law exempts most clothing and footwear priced under $100 from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend.
Included in the list of tax-free items are: Pajamas, Robes, Underclothes, and Shorts.
According to various angry denizens of the MSM who have found themselves on the wrong side of the Blogosphere’s ire, I guess that’s pretty much everything a blogger needs. So come on down to Texas this weekend and load up on your blogwear sales tax-free!
One word of warning: just don’t murder anyone while you’re here. We got plenty of needles to go around, and the Governor turns his phone off after ten.

Hooray!
No tax, Texas, and guns!
Yeeeeeee-haw!
What more could one possibly ask for, except for being FIRST!!
That’s neat, I didn’t know about this….I wish I lived in Texas.
They’re gearing us (Texans) up for our secession. No sales tax for three days…just giving us a taste of the sweet life to come.
Yeah! Ours here in GA was last weekend.
I’m totally going to texas for some new whitey-tighties.
Coleman:
You secede, and I’m THERE.
I live near the PA/DE border. I can easily go to Delaware and avoid the PA 6% sales tax any day that I chhose.
Florida has done this for a lot longer I think, and theirs is a full week.
I feel sorry for the retail workers there.
North Carolina’s tax free weekend is this upcoming weekend ( August 5-7 )just in case anyone’s interested. Unfortunately, I don’t any money,Oh well, maybe next year
For what it matters, the Missouri sales tax holiday starts Friday, as well.
Medic,
I too wished I lived in Texas. So I went and found me a job in Austin. I move in a month.
(I’m from NJ, so I need to go to Austin where all the hippies are so I don’t get homesick)
I really heart Texas this upcoming weekend.
It’s like the day after Thanksgiving in August!!!
The New Hampshire tax-holiday runs until hell freezes over.
I like theirs.
New Mexico is copying the event on Aug5,6,7. But don’t fear, Guv Richardson raised the taxes and fees on nearly everything else under the guise of lowering a piece of the food tax. That way he can be sure we will pay for his new jet aeroplane.
