I Have No Words. I’ll Hand It Off to Someone Who Does

[High Praise! to Nuking Politics]

Excerpt:

After a while, President Obama made some prepared remarks about the whole thing. I was troubled by a couple of things he said, or didn’t say. At no time did he use the word “terrorist”. What he did say, more than once, was that we would find out ‘who did this’, and with equal emphasis, we would find out ‘why’ they did it.

“Why” somebody might do this kind of thing is important, yes, but there are more important things to attend to first. “Why” is a question more suited perhaps to a defense attorney, or a forensic psychiatrist, but when a politician asks it, especially one with a history of “never letting a good crisis go to waste” one wonders at the motivation.

  1. Yet another validation, by way of overwhelming failure to do so, of the absolute necessity for dynamic, proactive, intelligence work.

The disdain and disregard for that aspect of national security is a fatal flaw for the Left. Fatal to the citizens of country.

As it was with the Clinton administration, so it is with the Obama people. The condemnation to repetition of events by those who smugly and willfully disregard the past and doggedly refuse to learn from tragic object lessons.

The flaccid intelligence efforts by the government, the official participants in which having sworn to protect against all enemies foreign and domestic, resulting in the slaughter and mutilation of the innocent and unaware.

  2. well…..
somebody obviously doesn’t like trash cans!

To start with I would look at the Trash Collectors, their unions, and most importantly the people who fight over Trash Collecting contracts. Its a trashy business full of Tony Soprano type guys.

Then you have the whole security issue where now SOMEONE (probably a democrat) will be award a multi-million dollar contract to study safety issues regarding trash and trash cans.

Personally I think that this was done to draw attention away from other failures and to make “SOMEONE” look important, relevant and on the ball.

  3. Obama, through Harry Reid, will call for stricter laws dealing with the purchase or transfer of pressure cookers which, according to the ever-accurate media, were used in the explosions in Boston.

Families will be prevented from passing pressure cookers on to family members, say, from a parent to an adult child.

Pressure cookers will be federally registered and thorough background checks required so as to prevent their misuse by the “mentally ill”.

Additionally, no individual citizen will be permitted to possess more than seven bearing-type balls akin to those used in the Boston attack.

However, a non-discrimination clause will be written into legislation to avoid conflict with Muslim ideologies.

  4. If only Bush had outlawed explosive devices…but all Americans know that he was pro-gun, therefore he MUST have been in favor of people owning whatever weapons of mass destruction they chose to create….
But in the end, there are three dead Americans, so “What Does It Matter?” how it happened or why it happened…Isn’t that right?? Or is it different when it happens where Ted Kennedy could still get voted into the senate ?

(A side note to Bunkerhillbilly: As a serious Red Sox fan, and Boston lover…a hug from me for what has happened in your “town”. Boston started America….. There is nothing anyone can ever do to Boston which will make America forget that our roots began in the pubs and parlors of that city! Keep Calm and Carry On !)

  5. CTCompromise,

Thanks for the hug and the support. Go SoxNation!

However, don’t worry about me and mine…worry about the poor bastid(s) who triggered these bombs. They’ve angered a whole city. Pipes, bats, tire irons, chains, fenceposts, etc., are just waiting to be swung. The city cops and staties will do their jobs with respectable efficiency…but if the perp(s) happen to fall up a very long staircase or decide to flee from custody and catch a few rounds in center mass…then ooops! Blind eyes will be turned. The person or people involved would be smart to consider surrendering to federal custody out of state or their body parts might be turning up from Falmouth to Housatonic.

They can run, but they’ll only die tired.

Such is the mood around here.

Raise a Guinness and let strong prayers accompany.

  6. For those who are, rightly, distressed about Monday’s attack in Boston, perhaps some of you were listening to your radios around 2PM EDT and caught the Alphabet Network’s Breaking News segment which ran for the next 30 minutes or so.

    Accidental and unintentional comedy ensued.

V.O Announcer: We interrupt your programming for breaking news and take you to Steve Soandso…

Steve Soandso: Law enforcement sources are announcing the arrest–or possible, potential arrest–of a suspect in the Boston bombing. We take you live to Aaron Ketersky in Boston…Aaron?

Aaron: Thank you, Steve. Yes, we can now confirm, according to sources in Boston, that an arrest, or potential, possible arrest, may have occurred, or may, in fact, actually, be potentially, immenent, concerning a specific subject, or suspect in the bombings in Boston. Steve?

Steve: Thank you Aaron Ketersky in Boston for those details concerning the possible, or potential, upcoming arrest, of a subject or suspect, if, in fact the arrest has not already occurred, taking place in Boston, concerning the explosive bombings in Boston. We take you now, live,, from our ABC News headquarters in New York, to Boston, where Aaron Ketersky is standing by with breaking news…Aaron?

Aaron: Steve, thank you, we are live in Boston, where, on Monday, during the Boston Marathon, bombs exploded, and we now are hearing from confidential law enforcement sources, that an arrest, of a possible suspect or subject, if it has not already taken place, may, in fact, potentially be possibly imminent. Steve?

Steve: Aaron Ketersky in Boston, where news is breaking of a suspect being either arrested or potentially, about to be arrested. Let’s go now, live to Terry Murran in Boston for more breaking news about the possible arrest or upcoming arrest of a suspect in the bombings in Boston. Terry?

Terry: Steve, according to law enforcement officials, on condition of anonymity, an arrest has, or potentially, possibly, imminently, will take place in Boston, of a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings.”

Steve: Terry Murran in Boston, thank you. Let’s go live to Boston where Aaron Ketersky is standing by with breaking news concerning the arrest, or upcoming, potential arrest of a suspect or subject in the bombings of the Boston Marathon. Aaron?

And so it went for twenty minutes.

Chewing up air time without breaking a damned thing.

  7. Bunkerhillbilly:

@11: Add that to the list of “Why we were so glad to see the Red Sox take the field on Tuesday” !!! Great summary of the “Scoopsville” coverage.

@10: I like the way you think !! The best “man on the street” interview I saw was when Jesse Waters from The O’Reilly Factor went through Cambridge asking people what hey think should be done to the person(s) responsible for the bombing when they are found. He asked one man, who I don’t want to say looked Italian..but he looked Italian. He looked to be in his late 60’s. He was sitting in a banquet chair on the sidewalk in front of a business. When he was asked what should be done with the person(s) responsible, he calmly answered “Put ’em in a room with me and maybe four of my friends”. YEAH!!! THAT’S JUSTICE!!!
