I don’t care for Trump.
Maybe you’ve picked up on that. I don’t know if I’ve really articulated the reasons, though. But then, thinking about it, it’s a bit hard to explain exactly why.
It’s like if I walked into my living room and saw someone had vomited right in the middle of the floor. I’d say, “Oh, I do not like this. This is something I don’t care for.” But what if someone else then responded really indignantly, “Why? What’s wrong with it?” I’d probably be taken aback. I don’t think I’d have a good response right away. I’m just used to my displeasure of vomit on things being accepted without question. Now that I have to explain it, I’m a bit confused as where to start.
Which is not to say I don’t understand the appeal of vomit in certain situations. Like seeing vomit all over everything Barack Obama tried to accomplish, my reaction is, “Oh, how amusing. How droll.” But the problem with vomit is it’s not very discriminating on what it gets on. So at other times I’m like, “Oh no. Vomit is all over the principles most important to me! No one will take them seriously with vomit all over them!”
Now — and this is very important — just because I’m comparing Trump to vomit, doesn’t mean there’s someone else I’d rather be president or believe would do a better job. Trump’s fine as president; I’m not freaking out about it. In fact, to me the most optimal thing that could happen next is for Trump to go into the 2020 elections with under 20% approval and then win reelection easily.
But I don’t care for him.

I couldn’t have said it better. I don’t like him, but I love how he makes the people who I dislike even MORE than him act. He definitely wasn’t my first pick in the Primaries (not even in the top 3)….but just watching the insane Left Wing Howler Monkeys react to his win is something I’ll cherish for a lifetime.
I voted for him in the hopes that something might get done and for the fact that he was not Hillary Clinton and on both counts I think he is doing well. Don’t pay attention to the dog and pony show in the media, do something constructive with your time like writing a book 🙂 You will make the world a better place for it and Trump will get the job done in his fashion.
Trump is what we can best expect him to be, someone willing to stand up and fight back against the Democrats on at least a public level and not retreat into the usual cowed obedience Republicans demonstrate. He is vain, self-promoting, crude, rude and not particularly sensitive to anyone’s feelings. He is not a politician and he is willing to do things to move things along that a politician would avoid. If his governing style is more Business owner than veteran politician so what?
If it upsets liberals and moves us at least someways back to a centerist nation rather than the next Venezuela I am not going to take umbrage at every little vapor that seem to vex the MFM and the Liberals seem to fixate on. In the end all those are just distractions, ultimately meaningless and the very things that Liberals have used quite effectively to blunt the Conservative agenda. Not. Any. More.
If you look down under the vomit look at what is really happening, Dodd-Frank repealed? Conservative judges appointed? Regulations rolled back? The power of the Bureaucracy reigned in?
God willing while the Democrats still whine about Russians we will get Obamacare finally killed and a budget more grounded in reality to our income for a change. I will put up with the vomit show for all that. I didn’t vote for Trump because he was a wonderful guy, principled Conservative or someone bound by the permissions of the Democrats.
I apologize for all the post, couldn’t post it otherwise.
I think what I don’t like about Trump is that he’s actively rude to people who are unkind to him, and he seems to revel in the conflict.
Personally, I see contention as a sad situation to be avoided or ignored when possible, and confrontation should be civil and constructive.
So his unChristian habit of “punching the other cheek” is something I find off-putting on a personal level.
That said, I like what Trump’s presidency has done to my portfolio.
Also agreeing with chewie402 “I love how he makes the people who I dislike even MORE than him act”
Schadenfreude is my one weakness.
Unfortunately it is impossible to have a “civil and constructive” confrontation with the left these days.
The news media is willfully deceptive. Some have come right out and said they are perfectly willing to be biased against Trump or anyone supporting his agenda.
Members of Congress – all Democrats and some Republicans – look for any excuse to smear, obstruct, and outright lie about Trump and his staff.
The government itself is full of snakes like James Comey who leak to the press anything they can find to delegitimize the Trump administration. And if they can’t find something they’ll make it up.
George W. Bush tried ignoring it – tried doing the “Christian” thing and turn the other cheek. What did it get him? Two cheeks slapped. And arguably his passivity contributed to Trump’s difficulties. He should have sued Dan Rather and CBS (to name but two) for their calumny. He may not have won but his passivity simply emboldened his detractors and discouraged his supporters.
The left has been so strengthened by Republican/Conservative passivity that now it is only someone like Trump or Ted Cruz who will stand up to them. Yes, Trump is a brawler. At least he’s willing to punch back. Does he sometimes, often times, go too far? Yes – but I forgive him because it’s the Christian thing to do. 😉
Was that supposed to be a humorous or serious post? It seems to be an argument by emotional analogy – a seemingly new category at IMAO. Besides surprising me, it made me immediately consider extending your analogy to something useful, like:
Donald Trump is to vomit as Barack Obama is to _______.
Donald Trump is to vomit as Hillary Clinton is to _______.
Donald Trump is to vomit as the Democrat Party is to _______.
Donald Trump is to vomit as Stalin, Hitler and Mao were to _______.
Donald Trump is my son’s Commander-In-Chief and has done nothing yet to be compared to vomit. Sign me off from this blog.
I’m gonna go with “anthrax” for all of them
Donald Trump is to vomit as Barack Obama is to hemorrhagic fever.
Donald Trump is to vomit as Hillary Clinton is to leprosy.
Donald Trump is to vomit as the Democrat Party is to cancer.
Donald Trump is to vomit as Stalin, Hitler and Mao were to the Black Death.
Jimmy, don’t go!!!1!!
Stay in and argue, Jimmy. That what Trump would do.
We kinda need Jimmy on this site.
Trump is the only tool we have at the moment. Dwelling on how he looks or presents misses the most important point, does he deliver? So far, so good. In Baseball they call it “Winning ugly”. Personally I’m not getting caught up in Liberal standards for judging a President, or media portrayals based upon their oh so precious “Journalistic judgement”. When facing the abyss I don’t care if they guy holding the rope is “Vomit” as long as he IS holding the rope and IS pulling me back.
Sign me (back) on to this blog. This is a pretty good description of how I feel too. I don’t adore him but people who adore presidents are scary to me.
Trump’s ability to attack back is what got him elected but I wish he would dial it down to at least a 3 at this point. But as I like to tell my family…any day I wake up and Hillary Clinton is not president… well that’s a good day.

you’d make a fine John McCain.
I could use the extra sleep.
“Oh, I do not like this. This is something I don’t care for.”
It all sounds very Seussian.
