Tuesday Night Open Thread

Well, I went and done it now. I added a BBcode plugin to the blog.

No, I didn’t clear it with Harvey or Frank. I kinda got wrapped up in solving an issue, or what I saw as an issue, and ended up installing a plugin to test something. Well, others have discovered it and started using it.

If you want to use BBcode, here’s the info on it: https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress-bbcode/

If you aren’t sure what something is, don’t use it. You don’t have to clean things up if you break something. I have clean it up.

Now, some HTML is already allowed, and that will still be the case. See this link for HTML that is allowed. But, some things, such as imbedding images or YouTube videos, were stripped out by WordPress. BBcode allows them by adding an interface between you and the actual underlying system. Which means it should close the security holes that the stripped HTML tags could introduce. You get basic functionality in regards to embedding videos and images. Which is good.

That’s all I got to say about that.

What do you have to say? Not about that, necessarily, but about anything. It’s Tuesday Night Open Thread. The topics are wide open.

What’s on your mind?

    • You see the video in my previous comment? I mean, you actually see the video, right? Not just a link, but a video? All I posted was a link. That new plugin converts it to an embedded video, using an IFRAME tag.

That means you can copy your video link (or image link, or whatever link) then write up your little comment, and paste the video/image at the end of the comment, and it shows. Not just a link to click, but the actual video or image.
