This was what cutting-edge video games were like 30 years ago. Not sure they’ve improved since then.
Those orange lines made me think at first it was something else; the one where you’re a spider (or something) sliding down a web and you had to watch out for spikes.
The movie does evoke the tank game I played in the ’80. The graphics were about the same quality, but simpler—just polygons to hide behind and maneuver around.
I believe you’re thinking of Tempest and Battle Zone, respectively:

This just gave me a great idea to build a Battlebot. I’m pretty sure I will be this years champion if I do it.
