Anyway, for those who know nothing about GoFundMe (which was me about half an hour ago), they’re a little different than KickStarter, in that, even if the goal isn’t reached, whatever money is raised is still distributed to the person requesting the funds.

The other thing of note about GoFundMe is that, instead of charging the recipient 5% of the money donated, they recently waived that fee, and instead now ask the donors to add a voluntary “tip” to cover GoFundMe’s operating expenses so they can stay in business. They “suggest” 10%, 15%, or 20%, but “other” is also an option.
