“Breaking” News (Heh — Couldn’t Resist)

From the ever-vigilant trigger-guards at NBC:

What Is the ‘Boogaloo’? How Online Calls for a Violent Uprising Are Hitting the Mainstream
NBCnews / 2/19/20

. . . The current boogaloo movement was first noticed by extremism researchers in 2019, when fringe groups from gun rights

“fringe”?

They are “extremism researchers,” but gun-rights advocates are “fringe”?

and militia movements to white supremacists began referring to an impending civil war using the word “boogaloo,” a joking reference to “Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo,” a 1984 sequel movie about breakdancing.

The term is used to describe an uprising against a seemingly tyrannical or left-wing government, often in response to a perceived threat of widespread gun confiscation. For many, the word “boogaloo” — silly on its face — is used jokingly or ironically, but for others, the boogaloo memes are shared alongside violent text and images, seemingly to inflame an eventual confrontation.

In the last three months, boogaloo-related conversation has grown rapidly, according to the researchers, who found that use of the term has increased nearly 50 percent on platforms like Reddit and Twitter over the last few months. Increased exposure, the researchers warn, carries the danger of indoctrination.

Don’t talk about the term we’re talking about! You’ll only spread it!

Much like the OK hand symbol co-opted

[at least they’re no longer claiming “originated”]

by white nationalists who later denied the association,

… or by trigger-happy leftists who later denied the denial …

the ambiguity of the term “boogaloo” works to cloak extremist organizing in the open.

“Like a virus hiding from the immune system,

End the SARS-chasm!

the use of comical-meme language permits the network to organize violence secretly behind a mirage of inside jokes and plausible deniability,” the report states.

If there’s a network, why do they need some other way of communicating secretly?

“Aaugh! Hitler Youth are now calling their adversaries Poopie-Heads! Avoid using or snickering at that term, you racists, because by doing so you’re calling for the violent overthrow of the government!! We say.”

  1. “…carries the danger of indoctrination.”? Seriously? Has the English language become so corrupt that supposed intelligent adults use the term “indoctrination” in this manner? Basically they want it to mean “learning something we don’t want you to know”.

    I weep.

    • It’s projection, yet again.

They know very well that exposing the public to their weirdo terms at every opportunity is indeed their own attempt at indoctrination. So, any term or meme that they don’t start is, in turn, something they must accuse of being indoctrination.

      FUtatis FUtandis.

  2. So liberals and other members of the organized whiner class are asking, what Is Boogaloo? Well actually it’s an old election slogan originally used in the mid nineteenth century. You may remember “Boogaloo and Tyler too,” or “Don’t change Boogaloos in the middle of the stream.” from your high school history books. Later it was used in the twentieth century…”What this country really needs is a good five cent Boogaloo,” and still later “I like Boogaloo.” Currently the Sanders campaign is using “A Boogaloo future to believe in.” So I say Boogaloo you if you don’t like it when I say the word….Boogaloo!

  3. Red Skelton:

“So allow me to break it down for you, boys and girls:

“Boog — something from your nose — as objectionable as any leftist.

“A — a unity; one; an entity. That’s all they are: one boog. Nothing to fear.

“Loo — a British term, meaning bathroom. As objectionable as a leftist. And as necessary to flush.

“And they fear the word ‘boogaloo.’ So, I hope you see, boys and girls, how objectionable any leftist is.

“And wouldn’t it be a shame if, some day, something like that was empowered enough to remove the words ‘under God’ from our Pledge of Allegiance?”
