Like many of my generation, I think “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” is Elton John’s best album. Probably because of the sheer number of songs on the two-disk set. Some of the songs are great, and some are as bad as just okay, but I don’t think there’s a stinker among them. Of course, it’s been a while — years — since I just sat and listened to the whole thing, so I may change my mind about that. But my memory of it is that it’s a great album.
This was one I really enjoyed way back when. Let’s see if I still do enjoy it.

I was 10 or 11 when I went to spend a few days with my sister at SUNY Oswego. She was a French major, so I had no idea what was going on in her classes. Rather than attend classes with her, I hung out in the library, where they had endless (to me) albums that I could listen to on headphones. I picked out Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and was an instant fan. I’ve listened to it countless times and it remains my favorite album of his. He was my favorite musician until I heard Anders Osborne several years ago. Sorry, Elton. I remember that someone in my sister’s dorm painted the album cover of GYBR on their door. Formative week for a 10 year old.
I always liked, “Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player”.
The first album I ever purchased with my own money was EJ’s Greatest Hits (US version).
That was also the first album I bought with my own job money.
Okay, lets see if I got this right. If there are truly between 100,000 and 300,000 Pythons in the Everglades and the state snake hunters have caught 5,000 of them, how can this be considered a “victory” in any way shape or form?? https://www.yahoo.com/news/beast-snake-huge-python-caught-125300165.html
“The removal of this behemoth Burmese python is a triumph for our native wildlife and habitats,” said FWC Commissioner Rodney Barreto. “Gentlemen, this bill will be a giant step forward in the treatment of the insane gambler!” said Governor William J. Lepetomane.
