What a monstrous choice! I had to chooseDracula, mostly because of Dwight Frye’s Renfield character – that maniacal laugh…
Renfeld’s laugh is creepy, but it can’t compare to Colin Clive’s great emoting of “It’s alive!”
I can see arguments either way. They’re both very good. I’m Team Dracula because it’s a little closer to the story. Unfortunately this movie set the standard for having vampires appear aristocratic and elegant rather than monstrous and decayed, as Nosferatu did. But Frankenstein strayed too far from the source by having the creature remain largely non-verbal and clumsy, and that became canon forever after. So for mostly that reason, Dracula gets invited in.
