I love John Carpenter’s The Thing. There’s just so much right about that movie.
I’m not one that says the special effects all hold up today, but about 98% of them do.
I still remember the shock I got when I saw the alien chomp off Doc’s arms in the 1982 film.
So, what’s on your mind? Got something you’d like to talk about? It’s Monday Night Open Thread.
Who wants to start?

Did someone invert the subspace particle field and rip a hole in the space-time continuum?
Let’s go with that. I like it better than me just being a dumbass.
I just really like practical effects and miss them tremendously. It added magic to a movie when you had to wonder “how did they do that?”
Now we all know the answer: 1000 computer nerds pounding on 1000 keyboards for 1000 days.
Which is boring.
