Compare & Contrast

So, Sam Aanestad got interviewed on the Fred Thompson Show, and I gotta tell ya, I hope he’s got bigger aspirations after Lt. Gov. of California.

Here’s an interview video I found on this guy:

Basically, he answers two questions:

Should California tax internet businesses?

and

Should California tax sugary drinks to fight obesity?

The short version of his answers:

“Are you nuts? That’ll cost California thousands of jobs!”

and

“Are you nuts? That’s what parents are for!”

Now, just imagine Obama’s answers:

“No… because it should be a Federal tax. Those fat cat business owners need to have their wealth spread around!”

and

“No… because it should be a Federal tax. Those super-fatty-fat-fat soda drinkers need to have their wealth spread around!”

Sam in 2012.

Anyway, if you like this guy, show him some love over here.

  1. Keep your eye on New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie as he takes on that state’s bloated municipal unions. He’s signed on to 375 of 378 suggested spending cuts, slashing $13 billion from the budget in EIGHT WEEKS. They mockingly call the rotund Christie “The Trenton Thunder” (the Yanks’ minor league team there), but he’s turned it into his nom de guerre.

By way of contrast, his predecessor John Corzine vowed at a huge rally of unionized public employees to “fight for a fair contract”. In other words, he would fight himself on their behalf. Absurd, but all too familiar to New Yorkers, a state similarly in thrall to the unions.

  2. Heh, sugary drinks, right. That’s what makes people fat.

I did an experiment the other day. You can do it too, so it’s, like, reproducible, and stuff:

Step 1: look at calories/serving on Sprite.
Step 2: look at calories/serving on 2% lowfat milk.
    Step 3: compare.

ZOMGQWfae! It seems that LOWFAT MILK has more calories/cup than that evil sugary soda! That shows that we should be feeding our kids soda instead of milk, so they don’t get fat! Tax the cows!
