Ronin Thought of the Day

Today’s thought comes from Sensei Winston Churchill:

Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.

The fight for freedom will never end, so take pleasure in the battle.

  1. Another favorite of mine from Sir Winston, who told a story about a man who received a telegram from the captain of the ship his mother in law was returning to England on, saying she had died during the voyage, and requesting instructions.
The man wired this message back:
“Embalm, cremate, bury at sea. Take no chances”.

  2. I do recall, fondly, the times when we would all gather ’round the ol’ fireplace while Winny (as we used to call him) regaled us with stories of his youth and his love of a good hard cheese. Ah, jocularity, jocularity! Winny just couldn’t say no to a good hard cheese! I tried to warn him what mass consumption of cheese would do to his…uh, er…constitution, but he just loved it so – he would not be swayed!

  3. The only bad thing about the Ronin thoughts of the day is that it’s a pain in the rear trying to come up with something more smarterer to put in the comments. So I decided not to bother.
