Cop Sentenced to Prison for Posting Photo of Hitler’s Favorite Food
Newsweek | 4/13/21| Darragh RocheA police officer in Austria has been sentenced to a conditional prison sentence of 10 months after he shared a photo of a dish supposedly favored by Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler.
The man, who has not been named in media reports, is a police officer in the Austrian state of Burgenland. He was found guilty of violating the Verbotsgesetz 1947 – otherwise known as Prohibition Act 1947, which aims to suppress a revival of Nazism in the country.
It is alleged that the officer shared a photo of Hitler’s favorite meal on April 20, the dictator’s birthday, last year. Hitler was originally from Austria and later migrated to Germany.
“Lunch today! Egg dumplings with green salad!” the man wrote on Facebook along with a photo of the dish, according to ORF, a public service broadcaster in the country.
The dish is called “Eiernockerl mit grünem Salat” in German and is often referred to as Gnocchi in English. It is widely understood that Hitler was a vegetarian by the time he came to power in Germany.
I can understand the rationale behind the Prohibition Act in Germany because, you know, Germans, but here it would be Facebook and Twitter doing the censoring.

SINGAPORE — A man who passed himself off as a social escort agent to have sex with potential sugar babies and shoot nude photos of them was jailed three-and-a-half years on Tuesday (20 April).
De Beers Wong Tian Jun was also fined $20,000.
The 39-year-old had cheated at least 11 women, aged 18 to 24, between April 2015 and January 2016 by representing himself as an agent for wealthy clients when the victims contacted him through his advertisement.
The Singaporean man, who could not afford to pay for sex himself, came up with the idea to advertise on Locanto for “sugar babes” in 2015. He falsely represented that he was “a freelance agent” that “provide[d] sugarbabes to [his] well to do clients”, and stated “if you are serious about earning good money I have the clients for you!”.
He offered potential sugar babies $8,000 to $24,000 per month, but that they had to send him nude photos and have sex with him before they met actual clients. No such clients existed and Wong had created fake chats which appeared to be between himself and his ‘clients’.
In sentencing Wong, District Judge John Ng noted that the primary sentencing consideration in his case was deterrence. Wong had used deception and exploited the 11 victims to gratify his own sexual desires with an elaborate and well-executed plan over 10 months, DJ Ng said.
The prosecution had sought two-and-a-half years’ jail for Wong, citing the trauma caused to the victims. One victim had been diagnosed with adjustment disorder with anxiety as a result of the acts.
“She experienced anxiety attacks after the incident, often triggered by memories of this incident. She would sometimes cry during these attacks, and these were occasionally accompanied by shortness of breath, headaches, nausea and giddiness. In addition, she began having sleeping problems and nightmares,” said Deputy Public Prosecutors Cheng Yuxi and Tan Peiwei. The victim has also avoided going to several locations where the offences had taken place, they added.
In his previous court hearing, Wong’s lawyer Genesa Tan said that Wong had been diagnosed with adjustment disorder, which “significantly contributed” to his offences.
She added that Wong, who worked in the financial industry, was remorseful and had saved the victims from having to testify by pleading guilty. Wong has since gone for counselling and has taken “conscientious steps to become a better person”.
(God only knows, he’ll be a better person for having done this…and I’ll be a better person for having read about this situation. A win-win for everyone…except maybe the sugar-babies.)
This story would have been so much better if his name was Wang instead of Wong.
