[High Praise! to Neatorama]
I’m not an expert on the exact source or nature of the rivalry between Batman & Superman, so comic-booky types can feel free to elaborate in the comments, but I suspect Bruce resents Clark because Bruce had to invent everything that gives him the power to fight crime, while Clark was born indestructable and able to fly. And is annoyingly smug about it.

I can’t remember which one kissed Wonder Woman in the “Star-Crossed” movie.
Plus in the other movie, Bruce Wayne went out with Lois Lane; being a billionaire he can show a girl a good time; also, Batman pulled kryptonite on Superman. I think it was to make a point. I think that’s the movie where Lex Luther hires the Joker to kill Superman. In the end, Batman and Superman were closer, Lex was alive, and Joker, well, couldn’t say for sure–see the movie, eh?
Batman once devised weapons, techniques and strategies to cripple, kill, or at least disable every member of the Justice League of America – (just in case).
When somebody hacked Batman’s files and started using Batman’s plans against the Justice League, the members of the League were all like “Thanks a LOT, Batman!” and then they kicked him out.
A fight between Batman and Superman would be messier and shorter than the fight between Loki and The Hulk in The Avengers movie.
Loki may have been totally outclassed by the Hulk, but at least he was tough enough to still be breathing at the end of his powning.

@3: Would be messier if, and only if, Superman knew the fight was coming, Bruce didn’t, and Superman was willing to kill or induce severe brain damage. Batman, as long as he’s alive, can and will find a way to keep fighting and win. Superman stands above and apart from humanity on purpose, acting like a demigod in disguise most times. This is reason enough for Batman to be weary and mistrustful. Of course, he’s weary and mistrustful of almost everyone, that’s what makes a good detective. (In the perspective of his writers and the DC universe.)
There aren’t many beings that could survive a fight with Superman unrestrained. He beat Darkseid like a pimp in need of gas money.
