Every Sunday, Robert Spencer is going to lead us through parts of the Qur’an at Hot Air and answer questions in the comments section. Today he simply starts with explaining how the Qur’an is put together and how it is perceived in Islam. This sounds like some very worthwhile study, and I hope everyone participates.
BTW, I feel I should mention Spencer’s book The Truth About Muhammad which was quite an engaging read.
I know I’m looking forward to Sundays now! I just wish they’d open up registration over there… I feel cut out of the discussion.
Don’t bother. I got banned for a comment about immigrants smelling. They don’t take kindly to humor, but then again, neither does wizbang, lgf, etc.
I got banned too. They didn’t appreciate my “humor” I guess! Interesting when conservative sites try to be all PC and stuff! That’s why I like this site!
I have a Qur’an… It’s an entertaining read. Islam is NOT the religion of peace and is NOT a sister religion to Christianity as declared by our poor President. They actually want to wipe us Christians and the Jews off the face of the earth and the Qur’an is quite plain about it!
Wow. I do believe, then, that they’ve banned the wrong people.
I still like to have the choice the comment, even if I never type a word. But that’s just me.

I haven’t yet read Spencer’s books on Islam, but anyone who likes reading books to be informed, I recommend ‘Understanding Islam’ By James A. Beverly. It has very little bias for or against our “sister religion” (lol!), but as well as providing a concise layout of Islam, it lists the nations with a large or nearly total Muslim population & how they rate on a scale of political/civil rights & freedom.
Well, Battlestar Galactica is not even filming yet, so Sundays are pretty boring. : )
I just bought the book you are talking about, but am committed to finishing How to Talk to a Liberal by the illustrious and downright sexy Anne Coulter before I read anything else. I have a book called “Understanding the Koran: A Quick Christian Guide to the Muslim Holy Book” by Mateen Elass. I have to recommend it. I was worried it would be superficial and biased by the “They’re all going to hell anyway” mindset. It deals far more with the history of the Koran and the procedures for handling it, etc. For example, muslims won’t leave a copy open for fear evil spirits will read it and gain wisdom. Anyways, its a good book.
