Blogiversary

Totally forgot today is IMAO’s seven year blogiversary. Yay us.

Reminisce in comments.

NOW!

UPDATE:

The blogiversary caught me by surprise and so I just threw up this post before heading out the door to Bible study, but all the nice comments made me feel like I should say something more. So I just want to say I love each and every IMAO reader… even the trolls.

I haven’t had as much time for IMAO as I used and tend to leave the longer writing for PJM columns, but I want to keep putting up original content on IMAO that’s worth coming back to see and isn’t written by Harvey or Basil. So I’m going to try to get back to doing more comics for IMAO. I really like those but haven’t done them in a while. They were just a hassle in scanning and editing to a good size for the blog, but I’m smart enough to find a way around that. I already have this convenient tech solution I came up with where I make SarahK do it.

Anyway, the best days of IMAO are still ahead of it, I assure you! Perhaps long after something even newer has pretty much replaced blogging. But we’re conservatives. We don’t like new things.

Oh yeah, follow me on Twitter.

Be honorable, ronin.

  1. “first” basil lol……..come on man your better than that lol. Congrats on seven yrs of awesomeness! Is there anyone that’s been posting comments/reading for the entire time?

  2. Remember when we had facts about Hillary daily and we stopped because she wasn’t a candidate anymore, and she wouldn’t bother us again until her evil plot to subvert the Secret Service’s purpose and gain the presidency for herself was put into effect…yeah, how’s that working?

  3. Been reading for about 3 or 4 years. Favorite blog, period. There are some others like hotair that I click more, but only ‘cuz they post a lot. A couple times Ace has made me laugh so hard I had to step away from the computer. That’s happened here more like a dozen times.

Seems like we’re overdue for a brainless troll to give us some I Hate Frank material. Maybe I should take that responsibility upon myself.

Bummed that there was no samurai snowman last Christmas.

  4. seven year itch…don’t change anything! i need this site, man…it’s like a drug…i get withdrawl sickness if i can’t read this stuff…

    seriously, congrats…you’re the man…

  5. Yo Frank, props for the longevity. I remember wasting time reading your blog when I should have been working at that place where I’m no longer employed. I remember when you were funny and your big screen TV fritzed out on you. Good times man…good times.

  6. I’ll never forget the first post I read at IMAO (via a link from Hot Air): http://www.imao.us/archives/009342.html

By far, the best political cartoon I have ever seen.

I started commenting a few months later, and have stayed because of the fantastic combination of great posts and great commenters.

The only complaint I have is the disappearance of the daily Rage Against The Machine lyrics.

    Long live IMAO.

  7. Yes Mr Fleming,

Personally I think you blogging sucks and is full of hate speech. Unfortunately My [our] God has commanded me
telepathically to inform you that “You are one of his “Treasured subjects” “and he really gets a kick out of what he guides you
to do” Blah blah blah. But i wish to inform you that i wholeheartedly disagree with Our Creator, Because i Am a dirty, dirty Liberal douche. At any rate congratulations on your 7 years.

  8. my favorite line?

“when the dogwhistle blows, who barks?”

use it all the time when i have to deal with some lefty imputing “codewords” into conservatives’ statements.

  9. Hate-Filled Lefty

    Bow Means Girl
    Tobit
    Ninjas

    Headline Fun

Just some things from when I first visited IMAO, the blog I’ve been visiting longer than any other. And still the best.

  10. I found you about two years ago through one of those Cafe Press Top 10 shirts. I started reading everyday and and commenting last spring. The commenters are the best here. Feels like family! Congrats!

  11. Seven years. Dang. I must have missed out on a lot of great laughs.

I linked here maybe a year ago. I think from Instapundit. I check in every day now.

By the way, whatever happend to that Evil Scary Monkey that wanted to eat my eyeballs and fling poo at me? Did the Bambi killing grandma get him?

  12. Five of the seven voices in my head say, “Happy Anniversary”.
Since I (we) began visiting this site, my (our) ability to handle stress has shown marked improvment. I (we) think I’ll (we’ll) tell my (our) doctor it’s time to cancel that prescription and join the un-medicated.

  13. Seven years already? Frank J – you had me at “i hate moderates”. Looking back, that post now seems rather prescient:
“I hate moderates . . . much more than even liberals. I bet Satan is a moderate; the best way to get evil accepted is to package it with some good. That’s what moderates do; they’re always like, “Oh! I’m so special because I don’t take a firm stance on issues, and I see value in everyone’s viewpoints.” I bet right now a moderate is reading this and partially agreeing with it. Damn you!”

  14. Y’know, when I was seven , we didn’t even have blogs,
we had Chlogs we wrote on the cave walls with charred logs,
because only the rich kids had sticks, AND WE LIKED IT!
None of this namby pamby week kneed
    fancy schmancy ‘keyboards’ or ‘HTML’.
When WE wanted someone to read our stuff,
we clubbed them over the head and dragged them to the cave.
Half the time, they were too woozy to leave a comment, and when they did,
it was as whiny as Andrew Sullivan and Maureen Dowd, COMBINED!

You kids today have it soooooo easy.
    ~
    Congratulations on 7 years!

  15. I’ve been reading since about late 2003, and keep coming back. I quit commenting because I always seemed to go back to how much oil we’ve got up here in Alberta (hint – more than Saudi Arabia). Anyways, congrats on the seven years, and hopefully your Canadian Invasion plans won’t take another seven to complete!

  16. I remember when I first read IMAO. It was back in late 1989, and I fired up my Commodore 64 and dialed up my new AOL account. Suddenly I surfed onto a website called IMAO. The first post I read debated who would win in a gang fight between Milli Vanilli and The New Kids On The Block. There wasn’t as much politics discussed then, as we had just come off eight years of Ronald Reagan and the first Bush hadn’t yet begun to screw things up yet. Frank J was not yet married, and many of his posts displayed his obsession with Sally Field, so he spent a lot of time trying to convince people that Steel Magnolias was what he called “one of the most important motion pictures of all time.” I would have responded to one of the posts, but he kept threatening to “shun” anyone who didn’t agree that Sally Field was “like totally awesome.”

Harvey made mention of some upstart actor he’d just seen on an episode of Roseanne, named Fred Thompson, that he predicted would have a promising future. Basil had seen a singer named KD Lang on Saturday Night Live, and commented that “he seemed pretty cool.”

Boy, it’s hard to believe that was seven long years ago. Wow.

  17. Wow, 7 years is impressive in the blog world. Congrats to “all” the “different” personalities bloggers 😉 for making such a fun place that I enjoy visiting multiple times daily (often when I should be working, or at least “on break”). I’ve only been here…a year or two?…but it seems longer…in the good way. For the life of me I cannot remember where I got here from or how I found you, but I’m glad I did. With laughter being the best medicine and a daily requirement for myownself, you guys truly are/will be responsible for keeping me sane over the next 3.5 years of tribulation.

IMAO will also always be special to me because it’s where I first learned about Sarah Palin, The Fred, and that Michelle Bauchmann (sp?) gal in the Senate (?) that certainly looks promising.

Raising my glass of ice water to toast your awesomeness. Clink!

  18. I accidently found this site when I googled IMAO ‘cuz I didn’t know blog acronyms. Lurked for about a year; felt like therapy, and family reunion conversation rolled into one.>>> Frank J. off to Bible study; good one Frank, maranatha.

  19. I’ve been here for about six of those years, and it’s been great fun! I came too late for the puppy-blender piece, but I’ve had great fun every day since I first came. A few highlights:

    – W in Curious George pajamas
    – W appreciating pudding-cup time
    – the Rumsfeld Strangler
    – LOLTERIZT
    – John Edwards Fabulous Facts
    – ronin profiles

This is a fun place, and it’s not just the folks who post. The commenters are genuinely funny, and they’re nice! There are a few blogs that I no longer visit, even though the folks who run them are pretty good, because the commenters are such assholes. A big western thank you to Frank, Harvey, Basil, Sarah, and the rest of the IMAO gang, and also to my fellow commenters. You guys and gals are the best.

  20. Man, I still remember my first deep-dive in the In My World archive. So damn funny stuff… and then the book came out, and some guy I don’t even know paid it for me (including trans-national shipping). Because random Americans are still awesome.

All hail the True Blog Overlord!

  21. Late as always, but still wishing you the very best in the coming years. IMAO absolutely MUST continue, twitter or not. Since hippies keep breeding and the dark side persists, you will nevah evah run out of foddah. Happy blogiversary!!! The moon is always at the ready…

  22. This is the first bloggy place I ever commented on. Ever. It was a heady thing, until I hit “submit comment” while simultaneously realizing that what I had written was really stupid. Thankfully, it was ignored, like most of my comments are. Ah, sweet mediocrity.
