I swear, I hear one more person conflate illegal aliens with legal immigration, I will pop them. It seems like people for not enforcing the border know they have an untenable position (which they hold only because they think illegal aliens could be a voting advantage), so they invent strawmen who are against immigration in general. It’s like assuming because someone is against rape, they’re against sex.
In a way, it’s our fault. We should never have let the term “illegal immigrant” catch on. You don’t call shoplifting an “illegal purchase” because it’s not a purchase at all. Same way sneaking into the country and hiding from the law isn’t immigrating.
Me, I’m all for more immigration. Immigrants make the best Americans because they don’t take what we have for granted, having started out often in countries that suck and having to work to get here rather than just being born here. They’re certainly better than the weasels trying to confuse any debate about enforcing the border. How about we deport all the those weasels and replace them with legal immigrants? It would be a much better country.

As an American Asian whose mother is an immigrant, I am for immigration that is done legally with respect to our Country. My mother learned english and now owns her own business. She is living the American dream the right way. We need to secure our borders! I am currently paying out of my pocket the expenses from a car accident that left me with server back problems. An Illegal hitti me when I was 18 traveling to my night class. He could not read the construction signs and now I must pay with chronic pain. Of course he had no insurance. If he was not allowed to cross a secure border, he would not have hit me, period!
I think if they want to let those who entered our Country without respect to our laws stay in the U.S., then they can never, NEVER, NEVER become citizens. They can only become a resident, unless they return home and properly complete the required paperwork in accordance withe law. If they choose not to do so, then they can never become a citizen. That would determine who wants to be an American for they love what we stand for and those who want to become American to change the system.
For every able bodied worker that comes across, a welfare recipient could be sent the other way.

Illegal aliens males or females if they want under the age of 30 should do three years mandatory military service if they want citizenship. Teach them English and patriotism. If they don’t want it, ship back to the southern end of their country and lets see them crawl their way back.
Oh and I am no longer calling it illegal immigration. It’s now illegal entry for me. As was said, they aren’t immigrating.

You nailed it; Immigration is not illegal. Aliens entering our country illegally should be called what they are; ‘INVADERS’, pure and simple. This ol’ Marine will still defend his country from ‘INVADERS’, both foreign and domestic.
I am of the belief that if you are an alien in this country illegally, we get to keep your flying saucer, your women, and you have to send rosy odonnell to your planet so we don’t have to deal with it anymore.

These people are breaking the law by being here. Since when does America support law breakers? Not only have they taken away jobs by americans but they can’t even bother to speak english. This is america and they should at least try to speak the language here. I agree with arizona. It would have been enough just to enforce this law because they are here illegally, but now we have people being killed and drugs in to the mix, so arizona is doing what they have to instead of sitting around and waiting for the government to do something about it. I just can’t believe that oakland and san francisco is boycotting them because they are trying to uphold the law and solve the problem. Since when are we as a people punished for doing the right thing? I am a quarter mexican but I was born in california and even I think they are taking over my town. I hear more mexican than english and while trying to find a job, if i am not bilingual then I can’t even appy. Since when is it okay for someone illegal to have an monoply on the job market over people who were born here? They are breaking the law and no one seems to care, not the president, or congress or anyone. And then when someone actually does something about they are punished. What happened to us? This must have been how the Native Indians felt when the white man kept showing up and they couldnt agree wether to fight them or try and get along with them.
