That reminds me: I have yet to see a sound reason for why a military member under the age of 21. If he or she is old enough to kill and die for their country, then how is it logical for us to say they can’t drink? I’m sure you’ve heard that argument before, but, you know what, I haven’t seen anyone really refute it.
Marko – I agree. I think a military ID should be all you need to buy alcohol or drink anywhere in the US, even if you enlist at 17.
This had something to do with a push by the Federal Government in the 80’s to force all states to raise their drinking ages to 21 by withholding federal highway funds from those states that refused to knuckle under.
Honestly, I don’t remember why they were so gung-ho on the idea. I’m guessing it was a battle of lobbyist money between MADD and the alcohol industry, and MADD won.
Anyone who remembers, please feel free to correct me.

Anyway, God bless them all.
I don’t feel like correcting typos; I guess the point gets across.

Harvey, I may be wrong but I think it was the auto insurers who pushed for it. At least here in Alaska it was.
zzyzx – Ah… that makes sense.
