Help Me Go Somewhere With This

I’ve got an inkling of a concept, but I’m not sure how to run with it.

I’m thinking of how liberals protested Chik-fil-A with a “kiss-in”.

Now, conservatives wouldn’t protest a business because a) they work for a living and b) they understand capitalism is a GOOD thing.

But if conservatives WERE to protest a business like liberals do, what sort of meaningless, look-at-me, [fill-in-the-blank]-in would they hold?

Maybe a “Fact-in” at the New York Times where they stand outside reading dictionary definitions?

Anyway, I’m having writer’s block with this. Bacon to anyone who can lend a hand.

  1. I can think of a few things.

#1 we could protest discrimination by hiring qualified people, hoping that some women/minorities apply for the jobs. we wouldn’t give them preferential treatment or anything. also, when they do get the job, we also wont flaunt them around to prove anything.

this would also be known as Tuesday.

#2 this may be a bit of a “dark” thought, but we could go to the homes of prominent liberals to do a hug in. what it would entail is, instead of picketing and causing chaos. we could just hug the likes of Rachel Maddow and Michael Moore, and just give them a big hug, and let them know that Bush cant hurt them anymore.

  2. The NY Times idea is good, but make it national, at all print media and television stations. Or, a visit by all the alleged hate groups and people, such as Pam Geller, Nonie Darwish, the NRA, Tea Party, etc., to the SPLC for a pitch fork fact in. Eff them libs until they can’t walk no more.

  3. @walkingdead- You would need a very large, organized crowd to be able to hug Michael Moore due to his massive girth. There would need to be a large insurance policy taken out in case anyone gets trampled by accidentally coming between Moore and a cheeseburger.

I think an entrepreneur-in would also be a good idea. You know, work hard to provide the highest quality goods and services at the lowest price for those gathered there.

  4. Go to a GREENPEACE office. Wear things like whalebone jewelry and tortoise shell sun glasses and snake skin shoes and furs and such. Converse loudly with each other about oil drlling. (Sorry, but no hippie punching allowed.)

  5. I think the general outline of the thing would be to overtax hated government agencies, while benefiting private businesses. The obvious candidate is the TSA. Everyone could buy a cheap ticket to a close destination and then execute a slowage action at the TSA stations. Don’t do any of the ‘expected’ humiliations without order. Leave your shoes and belt on. Carry metal items in unexpected locations. Bring loads of questionable liquids in amounts just over the legal limits. And take FOREVER to put yourself together while clogging traffic choke points. And everyone should ask for a physical search.

Then fly to your destination, hopefully one with a Chik-Fil-A in the terminal, refresh yourself, restock ‘supplies’, and do it again on the return trip!

  6. I think you’re on the right track. Here’s a strange, conceptual reach, but I’m thinking of something along the lines of a “lean-in,” with participants taking turns on a soap box in front of the Times, wearing prop stage shoes that allow the speakers to actually lean to the left, while demonstrating the slant of the paper simply by reading actual excerpts of articles and opinion pieces out loud. Perhaps some participants could act as “counters,” displaying the number of times “radical” is used to describe conservatives and Christians, as opposed to, say OWS protesters.

Anyway, you may find some raw material for something like that here: http://www.mrc.org/ny-times

Or how about a “build-in” adjacent to a prominent liberal business or campaign headquarters, in which participants in a marathon building session actually construct a business without any government assistance — a gun store, perhaps — or how about a bacon-themed restaurant? The grand opening could feature a banner reading, “Yes we did build this, Mr. President, without any help from you.”

  7. Protest outside MSM studios and offices with signs made out of animal skins.

    Signs saying such as:

No Blood for Oil! — Unless it’s really good oil!

Save the Snail Darters .. for Hors d’oeuvres!

Vegans Clear-cut Seasonal Grains and Vegetables!!!

    Spotted Owls. Taste Like Chicken!

    Make Love! Not Protest Signs!

  8. We could have a Personal Responsibilit-IN and actually have strong, smart women who take responsibility for themselves as adults show up at NOW headquarters and – GASP! – maybe even have children with them!

  9. I think we saw one of these conservative protests in action at Chik-Fil-A the other week, didn’t we Harvey? Seemed to work pretty well to me.

We also saw them at all the Tea-Party protests & rallies, townhall meetings circa 2010, and the 2010 elections and Wisconsin recall battles come to mind as well.

In fact, let’s have a repeat of 2010 in November! That’s the kind of Conservative protest action I want to see!

  10. We’ve got to stretch ourselves beyond our comfort zone. Because as Mark Steyn so chillingly wrote recently: This election represents the last exit ramp before the death spiral.

Find a Michael Moore look-alike (or Super glue two people together to look like Michael Moore)
Have him stand on a corner wearing Santa Claus garb (but sans a beard) with a huge bag that says “Obama’s Stash” written
    on the side.
Give out a Sam-Wow guy kind of speech about the honor of being on the bottom…then start handing out wooden golf tees that say “fuel for the Winter”!
    Or
Better yet, lets just go beat up some czars!

  11. A basic ecomomics teach-in. We have a huge sign explaining what “profit margin” is and then list those margins, in descending order, for not only oil companies but other “popular” companies like Microsoft, Macy’s, etc.

Next to that sign we can pick certain Democrat congress critters and list their net worth when they were first elected. Then we list and tally their congressional pay for all the years they’ve been in Congress. Then we list their current net worth and ask in HUGE RED LETTERS where the difference came from.

  12. Why is it after sooo many decades I still mentally read hors d’oeuvres as written and it takes a few seconds before I mentally change it to the phonetically correct “or-derves”? Stupid French and their horse devours.

  13. Conservatives, at least 2nd Amendment activists, actually do hold these types of “protests” all the time, usually in the form of “buy-cotts”. Open carry luncheons at friendly restaurants and the 2-dollar-bill buycott at Starbucks a few months back come to mind.

We also like to flood businesses with gun-buster signs with “No Gun, No Money” cards, and publicly boycott businesses that have come out against our right to keep and bear arms.

Although it’s true that these activities tend to be much more subtle and polite than your typical liberal mouth-foaming events.
