Q: What’s the physics behind the second direction change?
A: It’s precession all the way, just like Earth does. Normally you’d explain that the Earth precession is like a spinning top tilting around in circles, but looking at the circular motion along the axis it moves in space it becomes a sine wave. If the lane was twice as long it would start going left again later on and so on until friction overcomes the spin. Edit: Adding to this, there is also a cosine wave motion going on in the axis direction that would show slight variations in forward speed.

It’s a fair cop.
