Monday Night Open Thread

Pain. I’m in pain.

But you didn’t come to hear me complain. Or maybe you did. Some of you seem to take pleasure in other people’s pain. Not all of you. But a couple of you. You know who I’m talking about.

Actually, you don’t, and I know that. It’s the pain talking. I apologize. I may talk more in depth about the pain at another time. It’s a recent thing, and doc says it shouldn’t last much longer. It’s just not a suitable topic for this post, since this post isn’t about me. It’s about you.

It’s Monday Night Open Thread. You determine what we talk about. Or listen to you BMC about something. Ot tell a joke. Or share a link. Or whatever.

Who wants to start.

  1. Possible sources of Basil’s pain:

    1. They hired another motormouth millennial at work and he gave you a headache.
    2. You had the mother of all root canals and the doc left the little volcano open to drain.
    3. Helping your liberal sister move her hide-a-bed was a bad idea.
    4. Obama announced that he’s visiting Georgia again and that gave you a migraine.
    5. Our Open Thread comments are excruciatingly boring.
    6. None of the above.

Thanks for posting while in pain, Basil. Hope you feel better soon.

  2. Oh, God, did someone make you watch Obama’s speech at the JFK Profiles In Courage awards?

Hillary’s interview on some stupid show?

    Hope you’re better soon.

(Since you’re a programmer, maybe you just caught a code. Or a header ache.)

    • I freely admit that I’m one of those who only reads IMAO for the pain stories.

Also, I hate that my phone keyboard has a backspace key, but no delete key.

Also also, the backspace key is where the enter key should be.

  3. 12 REASONS WHY I VOTED DEMOCRAT: 1. I voted Democrat because I think the government should give “FREE,” things to people and I don’t want to admit that the government has no money of its own, so whatever it gives one person, it has to take away from a “hard working,” other person. 2. I voted Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I’ve decided to marry my German Shepherd. 3. I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn’t. 4. I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I can. 5. I voted Democrat because Freedom of Speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it. 6. I voted Democrat because I’m way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves. 7. I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can’t tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don’t start driving a little “hybrid.” 8. I voted Democrat because I’m not concerned about millions of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row inmates alive. 9. I voted Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits, and we should take away the Social Security from those who paid into it. 10. I voted Democrat because I believe that businesses should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution to those who don’t work. 11. I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters. 12. I voted Democrat because I think that it’s better to pay billions for their oil to people who hate us, but not drill our own because it might upset some endangered beetle, gopher or fish.

  4. J. M. Barrie, the author of Peter Pan and The Admirable Crichton, among other things, was born May 9, 1860. Sprinkle some fairy dust on a leftie; maybe it will make him/her/it disappear.
