There’s nothing like some rock n roll on a Saturday night, is there?
How about some rock n roll from 1949?
Yes, from 1949.
How I ran across this one is — well, there’s a story behind it.
SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT
I wrote about it over on my little blog.
Here, though, it’s Saturday Night Open Thread. You pick the topics, you control the flow of the conversation.

Speaking of Rock and Roll, we lost another good one.
I have to admit I’ve never heard of Louis Jordan before and I like to think I’m pretty knowledgeable of the old groups. Like these guys for example.
Not really rock & roll, but more early R&B – “Mbube,” in this recording from 1939 by Solomon Linda & the Evening Birds was
culturally appropriatedcovered by comrade Pete Seeger, and titled “Wimoweh.” In the original recording, toward the end you can hear the improvised melody from The Tokens’ “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”http://www.legends1027.com/2017/02/10/saturday-night-fish-fry-by-louis-jordan-and-his-typany-five/
If Chuck Berry says it’s rock and roll, that’s good enough for me.
Ian Fleming was born May 28, 1908. Have a martini, shaken, not stirred.
