France: Communist Candidate Wants 100% Tax On the Rich

Labelled a “surging dark horse” candidate in France’s presidential election, communist Jean-Luc Mélenchon has a new proposal that he hopes will maintain his momentum: a 100% tax on the rich. Mélenchon is running as the candidate of the “Unbowed France” political movement, in an alliance with the French Communist Party.
Mélenchon is a colorful character whose repertoire includes showing up at rallies via hologram, enabling him to “appear” at seven rallies at once.

Yes, the desire to pass on property to your descendants may be natural – but why should we be slaves to our biology? In contemporary times, most people agree that tax should facilitate transfer of wealth from those who “have” to those who “need”. . .
. . . Morally speaking, people who stand to inherit large sums haven’t done anything to earn that money. An accident of birth placed them in comparatively wealthy families and they’ve benefited from that their whole life.
