So, according to this comic, the S in SMDH is swallowing. Does that mean the full acronym means “Swallowing My Dinner Hole”? (I always thought it was “Shaking My Damn Head”). Since the G in GIF is silent, does that mean that a short, animated, digital image is an “if”?
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?!?!?!?
WTF = What’s This For?
There is a scene in the movie Patton where he is riding into town to take over the division. When you watch these things a million times you tend to start noticing minor details and the one I noticed was at least one of the vehicles has stenciled on the bumper “WTF” which probably has some military meaning in regards to the motorpool or something because I can’t imagine it was there for the reason we would read into today some 40+ years after the film was produced.
Thanks — I now have a mental note to look for that next time.
I dunno… Military acronyms like FUBAR and SNAFU came in to being around then. No reason why WTF couldn’t have also.
True, but would someone paint it on a General’s jeep?
Why not? Isn’t Patton’s most famous quote something to the effect of “It’s not your job to die for your country, but to make that f’er die for his?” I hardly think he’d be offended by a WTF on his bumper.
