Wednesday Night Space-Filler Until Midnight Special Comes Off Hiatus: “Crisis!!”

You want to talk about crises? I’ll give you a crisis:

Switzerland Is Running Out of Potato Chips Due to COVID and Poor Summer Weather
TheLocal.ch | 9 September 2021

2021’s mild summer has another victim: the humble potato chip.

As if the 2021 winter couldn’t get any worse, it’s now hitting us in the chip pocket.

Because of 2021’s constant rainfall and general poor weather, Switzerland’s potato harvest is disappointing.

When combined with a 30 percent increase in demand due to people sitting at home eating chips rather than going to restaurants, a chip shortage looms in Switzerland.

Sounds like a bunch of neutral people who can’t get Lay’s.

  1. Now I remember. It wasn’t a 1960s sitcom it was Adam 12. Which crossed over from late 60s to early 70s if I’m not mistaken.

Anyway, my question is about the episode where officer McCoy stops a spoiled girl who always gets her way. She’s shocked when he gives her a ticket despite the use of all her feminine charms.

This makes her persue him for a date but he’s having none of it. Finally he gives in and goes out on a date with her. When asked about it the next day he states that she won’t be bothering him for another date but he never tells why.

My theories on how he got rid of her are:
1: he went “too far” (either physically or asked her to marry him to immediately put her off)

2: he told her he’s into guys

3: he acted like a total jerk

    4: he acted like a total geek/nerd

If you remember the episode and have some insight then I’ll be glad to hear it.

    • I don’t know why I can’t remember this one very clearly; I’ll bet I’ve seen all episodes several times. I can sort of picture Malloy getting razzed by the guys in the locker room, as he changes into his polo-shirt civvies.

Could more modern reruns have have edited out the scene on the date that clears up the mystery because they found something in it they didn’t like?

      (Like the moderation algorithm does.)

It was probably an ethical mistake to go out with someone you met on the job that way, and if it wasn’t against department policy, it probably was later. What if she hired a lawyer and Malloy had to testify at a trial? Definite conflict of interest.

Why no second date? Perhaps he either did, or did not, use his handcuffs, against her wishes.

Or maybe his idea of a good date was to take her to a 2-11 in progress, with chains and knives.
