U.S. To Apply Ebola Screenings for Recent Uganda Visitors at 5 Airports
Investing.com | 10/6/2022The Biden administration will begin redirecting U.S.-bound travelers who had been to Uganda within the previous 21 days to five major American airports to be screened for Ebola as public health officials sent an alert to healthcare workers.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Thursday issued an alert to healthcare workers to raise awareness about the outbreak but said there were currently no suspected or confirmed U.S. Ebola cases from the Sudan strain, which is behind the latest Uganda infections.
According to Uganda’s Health Ministry at least nine people had died of the disease in Uganda by Oct. 3, since authorities in the east African nation announced the outbreak of the deadly hemorrhagic fever on Sept. 20. It added there are 43 total cases, including the deaths.
Biden asked some of the fatalities to stand up during his press conference. The White House clarified just shut up, Fox.

So, it appears the Secret Service hit a curb in a tunnel and destroyed a tire. Oh, and the vice president was in the car.
VEEP IMPACT: SUV carrying Harris crashes; Secret Service initially blames ‘mechanical failure’
washingtonexaminer.com | 10/5/2022 | Brady KnoxVice President Kamala Harris was involved in a one-car crash on a closed roadway in Washington, D.C., which the Secret Service initially misreported as a “mechanical failure,” according to a report.
The Monday morning crash has sent shock waves through the Secret Service, according to insiders speaking with the Washington Post. While the vice president wasn’t injured, the nature of the accident has raised the question of how such a careless incident was able to occur within the prestigious agency.
The SUV carrying Harris hit a curb of a tunnel with such force that the tire had to be replaced. The vice president was moved to another vehicle in the motorcade to reach the White House.
The inaccuracy of the initial report of the accident, an electronic alert to leadership attributing it to a “mechanical failure” rather than the Secret Service agent driving the SUV hitting a curb, caused Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle, who has been on the job for about a month, to be disturbed but was relieved after receiving a fuller account later in the day, a source told the news outlet.
Heh. Perhaps a punning use of the word “relieved.”
And “Cheatle.”

PSA: How To Shoot Kangaroos in Australia
Ammoland Inc. | August 8, 2017 | Dean Weingarten
The shooting of Kangaroos . . . is highly regulated, and requires numerous different types of permits and licenses.
Kangaroos maintain high populations and are agricultural pests in large areas of Australia. In New South Wales, near Quirindi, road killed Eastern Grey Kangaroos are about as common as road killed deer in Wisconsin.
The shooting of kangaroos is regulated as to what position the animal must be in when shot (standing), where the animal may be shot (brain shots only), what calibers may be used (centerfire only, .204 Ruger and up), the range they may be shot at (less than 200 meters), and of course, who may shoot them (licensed commercial shooters and primary producers).
Farmers are the most common primary producers. Commercial shooters need to apply for permits and numbered tags. Primary producers need to apply for a permit to shoot kangaroos that are damaging crops. Farmers are granted permission to shoot limited numbers of kangaroos. When the number is reached, they can apply for another permit.
Telescopic sights are required for rifles. Semi-automatic rifles may not be used. Some use of shotguns in special circumstances is allowed in South Australia. Rifles are required to be sighted on a non-animated target before each day’s or night’s hunting. Subsonic ammunition may not be used.
In case you were wondering. Sounds stricter than a Saturday night in Chicago.
Didn’t the kangaroos win the war, though?
