Citizen Watch Report | 3/7/24

Bill C-372 is stirring up a storm that’s leaving citizens questioning the bounds of expression. This Canadian bill, on the brink of becoming law, is raising eyebrows for taking an unconventional stance on the discussion around fossil fuels.

The crux of the matter? Bill C-372 aims to make it illegal to advertise or express anything positive about fossil fuels. Yes, you read that right – talking about gasoline and oil could land you in hot water, with potential consequences including two years of jail time and a hefty $500,000 fine.

Text of the bill

promotion means a representation about a product or service by any means, whether directly or indirectly, including any communication of information about the product or service and its price and distribution, that is likely to influence and shape attitudes, beliefs and behaviours about the product or service.‍”

  1. I haven’t seen a commercial for
gasoline in years on tv. The pharmaceutical ads took over. They even have medicine for someone who huffed to much gasoline at once. Anyway, Canada is sounding more Fascist everyday in fact they could become the fastest to become Fascist. Say it fast 5 times..the fastest to become fascist.

  2. Alright…I was hoping to be long dead before this kind of nonsense was the norm, but at least Canada (the state we don’t acknowledge because they are too French) has assisted suicide. So they have that going for them…I just hope the folks who dreamed this beaut up take the option (and the bill with them).

  3. Amendment. “No one holding political office or any office or position of trust in the Canadian government can use any vehicle using fossil fuels nor shall they have use of any service or product that uses fossil fuels at any point of it’s production or distribution. Violators will be beheaded at noon in front of Parliament in Ottawa.”
