  1. I read that all protons are estimated to decay in about 10^80 years. They do, decay, however – that much is known – as is the mechanism for it. There are protons decaying right now inside everything, which is kind of mind blowing that nature is basically unstable at its core. Free neutrons decay in 10-15 minutes via so called ‘beta decay’ and revert to a proton, electron and antineutrino.
