Almost 2,000 Pubs Have Closed in Ireland Since 2005 – Report
RTÉ News | Wednesday, 23 Aug 2023 17:44

Almost 2,000 pubs in Ireland have closed since 2005, according to a new report undertaken by Drinks Industry Group of Ireland.

The research shows that 108 bars shut in 2022, while there has been a 22.5% closure rate since 2005.

The group said rural businesses are most at risk of shutting their doors, while the counties that saw the biggest declines were Limerick (32%), Cork (29.9%), and Laois (29.9%).

Dublin saw the lowest rate of decline, at 3.4%.

The group is calling on the Government to give more support to regional, small, and family run operations, and is also calling on excise duty to be decreased.

More than 450 pubs have closed since the COVID-19 pandemic, and Economist and Associate Professor at DCU Anthony Foley said that the knock-on effect is hitting rural communities both socially and economically. …

So they can blame Covid, but not the excise duty. Interesting.

U.S. News Goes Conservative; Hates On China Like the Rest of Us

Just 25 Cities Contribute More Than Half of Global Greenhouse Emissions, Report Finds
US News and World Report | July 2021 | Alexa Lardieri

The new report found that all but three of those cities were located in China.

Just about two dozen cities, from a sample of more than 160 urban centers, contribute more than 50% of greenhouse gas emissions, according to a new report.

The report, published Monday in the journal Frontiers in Sustainable Cities, found that just 25 cities, analyzed from a sample of 167 metropolitan areas in 53 countries, comprise 52% of greenhouse gas emissions.

95% of “greenhouse gas” is comprised of water vapor. 3.5% is CO2.

Zero cities contribute water vapor to the atmosphere.

Chemical molecules are so widely dispersed in the atmosphere that they cannot contain, store, nor transform the heat radiation leaving the planet. And they certainly can’t re-emit heat to the planet through the cold layers of the atmosphere. Not through radiation, convection, or conduction — the only means of heat transference.

And Biden Said in the Presidential Debates That Hunter Didn’t Get a Single Penny From the Chinese

Jake Tapper: ‘Trump Was Right … Biden Was Wrong’ About Hunter’s Foreign Business Deals
Daily Wire | August 18, 2023 | Zach Jewell

CNN’s Jake Tapper admitted Friday afternoon that Donald Trump was correct and Joe Biden was wrong about Hunter Biden’s foreign business deals when the two addressed the issue during a 2020 presidential debate.

Tapper made the comment during a roundtable discussion on the current scandal embroiling the president and his administration as Congressional Republicans dig further into Hunter’s foreign business dealings and his father’s alleged influence in securing over $20 million since he took office as vice president in 2009. Tapper started the segment by citing a Washington Post article that stated, “Hunter Biden reported nearly $2.4 million in income in 2017 and $2.2 million in income in 2018 — most of which came from Chinese or Ukrainian interests.”

“And this directly goes against what Joe Biden said in the debate in 2020 with Donald Trump,” Tapper said before playing a clip of Biden denying that Hunter made money from Chinese business dealings while Trump berated Biden, saying that his son “made a fortune in Ukraine, in China, in Moscow.”

“Trump was right,” Tapper added. “I mean, [Hunter] did make a fortune from China, and Joe Biden was wrong. I don’t know that he was lying about it. He might not have been told by Hunter, but this blind spot is a problem.”

First of all, why no redistribution outside of North Korea? Second of all, how did I see it? Third of all, what’s going to happen to us now that we’ve seen it?

Niger Military To Prosecute Mohamed Bazoum for “High Treason”
Aljazeera | 8/14/23

Niger’s military says it will prosecute deposed President Mohamed Bazoum for treason. . .

In a statement read out on national television late on Sunday, a spokesman for Niger’s military laid out the charges against Bazoum as “high treason and undermining the internal and external security” of the country.

Sounds vaguely familiar.

Electric Third Rail Shocks Two Lollapalooza Attendees Taking Selfies on Chicago Train Ttracks
Daily Mail | 8/14/23 | Alex Hammer

Horrifying footage shows the moment two Lollapalooza-goers were shocked by the third rail of a Chicago train – after entering the unauthorized area to take a series of photos.

Disturbing video circulating on social media shows the pair – as well as another member of their group – sitting on tracks and attempting to take a selfie, before a male member of the party leans back and is zapped with 600 volts.

He is then seen hauling a girl next to him on top of himself as he goes rigid with pain, shocking her in the process. The incident at 7.30pm [?] left both victims, an unnamed man and woman, hospitalized on August 5, with the former in critical condition.

Neither have been identified, but first responders who rushed to the scene, at Chicago Transit Authority’s Ridgeland Green Line station to rescue the pair said they are both in their 20s.

The two, who officials said had been making their way to the festival in Grant Park, were ultimately pulled off the rail by another member of the group, who managed to avoid being seriously electrocute [sic?] but appeared to brave at least one shock [?] while trying to rescue his companions.

In the now circulating footage [?], the duo are seen going limp after sitting on the dangerous, current-providing rail, through which a constant stream of voltage is funneled perpetually. [?]

He is seen fighting through what appear to be a series of shocks himself as he struggles to heave his companions’ dead weight – eventually doing with the help of several other straphangers, apparent horrified by what they have seen.

The footage is incredibly graphic, and shows how the travelers had gone onto the tracks to take pictures, with the girl – who was also hospitalized…

Biden Won In 2020 The Same Way Soviet Basketball Won Gold In 1972
The Federalist | Aug. 10, 2023 | Mollie Hemingway

A New York Times employee asked Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis the question in Iowa last week. NBC News correspondent Dasha Burns asked a variant of the question, to which DeSantis gave an extended reply about the proper and improper way to run elections. Completely uninterested in his substantive reply, she followed it up with: “Yes or no, did Trump lose the 2020 election?”

The question is never asked in good faith, and you can know that with certainty because none of these reporters even came close to asking it from 2016-2020 when the entirety of the Democrat Party refused to accept the legitimacy of Donald Trump’s election. In fact, they eagerly and actively participated in the Russia-collusion information operation designed to overturn the results of that election. Hillary Clinton was claiming the 2016 election was stolen throughout 2019, and the media generally cheered her on.

. . .

Similarly, there is something downright pathological in the media and other Democrat activists’ attempts to silence any and all genuine discussion about the weirdest election of our lifetimes. I researched and reported a full-length book about all of the verifiable problems with the election. These problems include the effort by the same top Democrat lawyer who ran the Russia-collusion hoax to push for the coordinated change of hundreds of election laws and processes, supposedly due to Covid. The vast majority of the significant changes were done in violation of the Constitution’s requirement that state legislatures handle such rules. The changes led to tens of millions of unsupervised ballots flooding into the system at the same time that scrutiny of said ballots was diminished. Mark Zuckerberg, one of the world’s wealthiest and most powerful men, spent more than $400 million to orchestrate the takeover of government election offices by left-wing activists. This get-out-the-vote effort was overwhelmingly focused on the Democrat areas of swing states.

There is also the issue that corporate media moved from pervasive bias into overt propaganda on behalf of Democrats and against Republicans. They invented fake news that was inserted into national debates, such as the false Aisne-Marne story claiming Trump secretly didn’t like American soldiers and the false claim that Russia was paying bounties for dead American soldiers and that Trump didn’t care. They also suppressed completely true stories about the Biden family business of paying for access to Joe Biden. In fact, a cabal of powerful figures conspired to falsely blame as Russian disinformation a laptop belonging to a key member of the Biden family pay-for-play business.

And that doesn’t even mention the fact that the U.S. government conspired with Big Tech companies to run a massive censorship-industrial complex to suppress news and information advantageous to conservative politicians and issues. This censorship-industrial complex also worked and continues to work to elevate left-wing media with a track record of running false information operations, such as the debunked Russia-collusion hoax and the Kavanaugh rape smear.

But let’s get back to the basketball game.

Did the men’s basketball team of the Soviet Union score more points than the United States in 1972? They did. Did they receive the gold medal? They did. Did Joe Biden receive more Electoral College votes than Donald Trump? He did. Was he inaugurated as the 46th president of the United States? He was.

All of those things are true. It is also true that reasonable people on the losing side of both contests believe — for very good reasons — they were not fair. It is sheer gaslighting to use the immense power of the Democrat media and corrupted Department of Justice to say that people are not allowed to oppose the way election contests were conducted or discuss how the manner in which the contests have been conducted affected the outcome.

Oh, Well, There’s Your Problem Right There, Brits

Whatever. I’ve heard science is racist.

One in Three Britons Do Not Know “Transgender Women” Are Biological Males
Breitbart.com  | 4/11/2023 | Kurt Zindulka

Over a third of the population of the UK are not aware that so-called “transgender women” are in fact biological males, as campaigners accuse the LGBT movement and the legacy media of adopting “intentionally” confusing lingo to muddy the debate around transgenderism.

A survey conducted by the policy analysis firm Murray Blackburn Mackenzie (MBM) found that 35 per cent of Britons incorrectly believe a “transgender woman” was someone who was born as a biological woman or were unclear about what the term meant. The poll went on to find that there was even more confusion over the term “trans woman”, with 40 per cent of the public unable to correctly define the term.

The MBM survey found that there were disparities in understanding among different age groups, yet interestingly, it was the 25-34 age group that was most confused about the issue, with just 55 per cent being able to correctly state that a transgender woman was born as a man.

WH spokesperson botches names, gender of Hawaii Democrat senators
NY Post | 08/14/2023 | Josh Christenson

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre both mispronounced the names of Hawaii’s two Democratic senators and misgendered one of them at a Monday press conference after the island suffered the most devastating US wildfire in more than a century.

Senator Harino [sic], who I said the president spoke to just last night, he thanked the president for the immediate support of federal agencies have delivered for residents of Hawaii,” the Biden administration’s chief spokesperson told reporters, “and so does, has, so has Senator Shorts, Sharts — Schatz.

Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), the first female senator from the Aloha State, is serving her second term in the upper chamber after having been a member of the House of Representatives for two consecutive terms.

Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) is serving his second full term after having been tapped in 2012 by Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie to replace the late Democratic Sen. Daniel Inouye.

Shorts, Sharts, Schatz. Great campaign slogan. Memorable.

Average Manhattan Monthly Rent Rises to Record $5,588
The Hill | 08/10/2022 | Miranda Nazzaro

The average monthly rent in Manhattan rose to a record $5,588 in the month of July as inflation and higher interest rates push rental prices to new record levels, according to a report from Miller Samuel and Douglas Elliman.

Manhattan’s new average monthly rent of $5,588 is up more than 9 percent from last year, when rent was $5,113, according to the report. The median rental price also reached a new high of nearly $4,400, up more than 6 percent from last year, marking the fourth time in five months Manhattan has hit a record. The report found the average rental price per square foot also increased 4.3 percent over the past year to a new high of $84.74.

The new average rental price is $3,278 for a studio, $4,443 for a one-bedroom, $6,084 for a two-bedroom, and $10,673 for a three-bedroom, the report found.

Are they factoring in the illegal aliens who pay nothing? Oh, wait — those rents are being paid. By taxpayers. Driving the monthly price ever steadily up. Bottomless pockets cause inflation. Just ask universities.

Weiss Appointment as Hunter Biden Special Counsel Violates DOJ Regulations, Experts Warn
Just the News | 8/12/2023 | Ben Whedan, Natalia Mittlestadt

Attorney General Merrick Garland’s appointment of Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss to serve as special counsel in the Hunter Biden criminal probe is raising alarm with some legal experts who say it explicitly violates the Justice Department’s regulations requiring such appointments come from outside the agency.

That regulation states: “An individual named as Special Counsel shall be a lawyer with a reputation for integrity and impartial decisionmaking, and with appropriate experience to ensure both that the investigation will be conducted ably, expeditiously and thoroughly, and that investigative and prosecutorial decisions will be supported by an informed understanding of the criminal law and Department of Justice policies. The Special Counsel shall be selected from outside the United States Government.”

Harvard law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz told the Just the News, No Noise television show Friday night he believed it was a mistake for Garland to name the current Delaware U.S. attorney, both because he was from inside the government and had approved an earlier plea deal for Hunter Biden that spared the first son from prison but was rejected by the trial judge and panned by many as too lenient.

Commenter:

Never mind DOJ policies.

It VIOLATES FEDERAL LAW!!!!

This is the Federal Law, not some DOJ policy:

28 CFR § 600.3
Ҥ 600.3 Qualifications of the Special Counsel.
(a) An individual named as Special Counsel shall be a lawyer with a reputation for integrity and impartial decisionmaking, and with appropriate experience to ensure both that the investigation will be conducted ably, expeditiously and thoroughly, and that investigative and prosecutorial decisions will be supported by an informed understanding of the criminal law and Department of Justice policies. The Special Counsel shall be selected from outside the United States Government. Special Counsels shall agree that their responsibilities as Special Counsel shall take first precedence in their professional lives, and that it may be necessary to devote their full time to the investigation, depending on its complexity and the stage of the investigation.

(b) The Attorney General shall consult with the Assistant Attorney General for Administration to ensure an appropriate method of appointment, and to ensure…”

“The Special Counsel shall be selected from outside the United States Government.”

Not, “May be,” as the talkingpoints say.

“SHALL BE.”

Supreme Court already ruled “Shall be” means MANDATORY.

GARLAND BROKE THE LAW!!!
