It’s Pathunny

I had never heard of the Daily Kos’s dKosopedia until someone pointed out that the entry about Gerry Studds was altered to reflect that Democrats now oppose the buggering of youths.
So what is the dKosopedia? I guess the regular Wikipedia wasn’t left-leaning enough and the muckadoos at Kos needed a research tool without the possibility of any facts that would offend their sensibilities being represented. In my short perusal of it, it’s one of the most pathetic/funny things I’ve ever seen (made more so by the fact that this is on the site of the most popular Democratic blog).
For Example:
George W. Bush: He “avoided the draft by enlisting in the Texas Air National Guard” – which I just thought was called “enlisting.” My dad enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam War to avoid the draft – does that make him a draft-dodger? Interestingly, who wrote the section on Bush’s military service felt the need to mention that, by the way, John Kerry served in Vietnam (though he wasn’t there anywhere near as long as my draft-dodging father).
Also, Bush’s “enrollment in Yale prevented a more deserving young man or woman from attending that elite university.” Probably saved the person money, too.
And did you know that “8 of 9 subsequent recounts showed Al Gore to have legitimately won Florida”? There’s no source on that one since I guess it’s just a well known fact.
Dick Cheney: Did you know he’s still getting a “$1,000,000 per year paycheck from Halliburton”. No, seriously, he is. Also, his heart condition can cause “insidious, difficult-to-recognize degradation of mental faculties.” Is this another case of the liberals not being able to decide between whether someone is dumb or an evil mastermind?
John Kerry: The entry is pretty long, yet never mentions the result of the 2004 presidential run. You tell us he won the Democratic primary, so why leave us in suspense on that?
The Draft (found linked on the dKosopedia main page): “Conscription is the coercive induction of individuals into military service. The target population for conscription is usually healthy young men of normal intelligence but states engaged in long wars often look to other populations for their cannon fodder: women, older men and adolescent boys, prison convicts, the mentally deficient, foreign residents and prisoners of war.” Just so you know what to expect when President Bush starts drafting people as we all know will happen soon.
Ad hominem: Strangely enough, they say that an ad hominem is bad and is a tactic of “Dittoheads.” You hear that, “Rape Gurney” Joe?
I’m not sure how well-maintained the dKosopedia is, but, if it is, it could give us a window into the mind of those who live in a loosely based on reality society.
If you feel like perusing the dKosopedia, put the funnier findings in the comments.

  1. I know y’all are going to think I’m trying to be funny but I’m serious here.
//women, older men and adolescent boys, prison convicts, the mentally deficient, foreign residents and prisoners of war.”//
Does this mean we can draft the 12 million illegal aliens in this country to fight in Iraq? With those kind of numbers we could over run Iran as well. I think it’s a really good way for them to prove they are of use to the country and are willing to work to stay here. Or they could remake Iraq and Iran into Mexico par duex, and run it just the way they want to, without those pesky Anglo’s demanding they speak the language and be citizens.

  2. Holy frijoles! I found it about the same time you did today. And coicidentally, I was googling Gerry Studds.
Did anyone else notice that Kos ripped off the wikipedia.org template and everything? Lack of imagination isn’t uncommon to the Democrat “zombies.”

  3. If you look up Barney Frank, oddly enough, it doesn’t mention his relationship with a gay male prostitute, That individual’s running of a sex ring from Frank’s Domicile or the fact that Frank “fixed” 30 traffic tickets for the guy.

  4. The Joe Lieberman entry is laughable.
“February 4, 2005: Republican President George W. Bush leaves the rostrum of the United States House of Representatives after delivering his annual State of the Union address and plants a big kiss on Lieberman on television.”

  5. This comes from the Eisenhower article. It is a whole one and a half paragraphs long.
—As President, Eisenhower failed to display strong leadership. For example, he did not publicly condemn the hysterical communist witch-hunting of Republican Senator Joseph McCarthy.
I believe this is a lame attempt at calling McCarthy a woman. The proper name would be: communist warlock-hunting.

  6. It’s a Leftopeadia. I’m still laughing hysterically!
I hate to say it but that is SO typical of left think. So basically, not only do you have a political view, but you create your own facts to back it up, from your own prescribed set of accepted sources. Add to the mix your own political language, rules, and context. Shape it all into a narrative that fits neatly into your preconceived political agenda. Oh–Don’t forget to leave out anything that clashes with your political narrative.
Remember–Omission is the greatest rhetorical tool of them all.
Welcome to Post Modern Political Philosophy 101. Coming to all University’s near you.

  7. Almost as obvious as those old Bolshevik encyclopedia’s I used to read as an undergraduate. Yes, you do have to be really bored. They were funny though. The whole world pressed through an orthodox communist filter.

  8. The following posted under Media Bias (examples of non-biased):
“Wikis like dkosopedia itself permit many views of a subject to be very closely examined, compiling many sources into one page for efficient reading.”
    From the Trolling FAQ:
“This site is primarily a Democratic site, with a heavy emphasis on progressive politics. It is not intended for Republicans, or conservatives. It is not intended for third parties, either . . .”
Oh . . . I get it. You can express whatever views you want, as long as they’re not Republican or Third party . . . that sounds reasonable.

  9. From the Soviet Union article:
“The Soviet Union was sucessful in some areas; it developed a world-class educational system, and provided universal health care. It industrialized very quickly first by developing the heavy industry that it needed to win World War II, then by developing nuclear and aerospace technology that rivalled the United States during the 1950s and early 1960s.”
Yeah, we all know those Soviets were good for their education and healthcare….
From the George W. Bush Article:
    “Favorite color: Blue”
Why is that even in the article?
“Bush’s regime of tax breaks did little to stimulate hiring; in fact, they created an incentive to profitize revenues, and depressed hiring. The economy continued to shed jobs and manufacturing jobs, even as GDP turned upwards. In order to prevent the economy from completely collapsing, a Federal Reserve board headed by far right central banker Alan Greenspan and long time far right economist Ben Bernanke kept interest rates at generational lows. The result was a devaluation of the dollar against independent currencies, which lead to the Crash of 2002.”
This amuses me because my econ teacher was just telling the class that unemployment is VERY low right now.

Cheney has absolutely received some nice checks from Halliburton but a flat $1 million annual sum seems unlikely. The fact that he received checks proves he is a lying scumbag.
We don’t know if Dick Cheney has had any strokes as a result of his many heart attacks because he won’t release his medical records. What’s he hiding? Probably strokes.
You need to make an IMAOpedia to store all your arrogant opinions.

  11. Under the ‘Republican’ entry there is a list of presidential candidates and whether they won or lost their elections. Perhaps not surprisingly, they show that George Bush lost in 2000. Not even an asterisk, just stated as fact.

  12. These guys are so unbiased! Heres an example from looking up “National Rifle Association.”
The National Rifle Association or NRA is a conservative mass membership organization that suports a view of domestic politics and civil liberties contrary to the American constitutional tradition. The privilege of private violence over reasoned discourse lies at the heart of the NRA’s ideology.

  13. Frank J, you really ought to do a imaopedia! The comedic potential is boundless. Like:
Orange-faced long-jawed freak: See Halloween, John Kerry.
Recursion: Something that loops a lot. See Recursion. (Sorry, had to throw that in)
Imagine the entry you could post for monkeys. What a public service indeed!

  14. That dKommiepedia is the funniest lefty site yet.
From their main page- “…The dKosopedia is written from a left/progressive/liberal/Democratic point of view while also attempting to fairly acknowledge the other side’s take.”
Who are they trying to sell that one to?
“fairly acknowledge the other side’s take.”
The other side, as in real AMERICANS. And the other side’s take, as in THE TRUTH.
What a wimpy attempt at redefining the terms. “We don’t agree with solid definitions, so we’ll just rearrange the facts & wording, and then that’ll make us right. So there!”
You know that if Foley had been a Dhimmicrat, they would define his actions as an attept to reach out to youth in politics. He seems to desire children, so he’s really not too far from being a liberal.

  15. Under the ‘Republican’ entry there is a list of presidential candidates and whether they won or lost their elections. Perhaps not surprisingly, they show that George Bush lost in 2000. Not even an asterisk, just stated as fact.

If you look under Democratic Party, they list Al Gore as lost the 2000 election as well. Guess that means Nader won?

  16. It says that Reagan was born into a Catholic family but became a Presbyterian for “election purposes.” WTF? His mother was not a Catholic and he was never raised Catholic.
Also, how about a list of things Democrats have done for “election purposes?”

  17. Bahahahahahaha!
I particularly like how they say, “…while also attempting to fairly acknowledge the other side’s take”. Don’t try too hard now, guys!
I thought it was satire too until I looked at the ban list. They clearly take that site very (giggle) seriously!

  18. wow. just wow. sad and pathetic and hysterically funny.
check out some of their articles on Supreme Court Justice. They call Stevens, Ginsburg, and Breyer “moderates”
Most of the short piece on Scalia is taken up with a juvenile picture of Elmer Fudd and Daffy Duck and reference to being Cheney’s hunting partner. And half of the equally poorly-written blurb on Thomas is about “Long Dong Silver”
