Wrong Time for a Liberal

I think Obama is just really in over his head, as this was the completely wrong time for a liberal. You don’t put a liberal in charge during a time of war …or any serious time for that matter. No wonder Obama has only talked to General McCrystal once; Obama is hoping if he ignores the war, it will go away. Same for Iran and their nuclear capabilities. He just wants to focus on dinky social issues, where liberals are strongest. Look at the time when Bill Clinton did well: Economy was taking care of itself, and after the collapse of the Soviet Union, we were ignorant of any big international problem. It was a time of naivete: Perfect for a liberal. That’s not now; this is Carter all over again. Liberals don’t know how to do anything useful, so they flounder when useful things need to be done. They really need to wait until all the big things are handled by others before they take charge.

So, remember to pity Obama just a little. He probably actually believed his “Hope and Change” mantra and thought all the big problems would go away so he could focus on things we don’t actually need right now like a health care overhaul or Cap & Trade. Liberals felt pretty useless right after 9/11, and probably the only thing that will make them feel even more useless is putting them in charge.

  1. Since neither McCrystal or Obma seem overly concerned about their lack of communication, I wonder what deal Robert Gates struck with Obama before accepting SECDEF.

Maybe this was the deal. Gates handles the wars so that Obama can maintain his ignorant bliss.

  2. “this is Carter all over again”

Not “all”, but he’ll get to mostly, eventually.

Carter was hiding in the White House, paralyzed, impotent, while Soviet thugs and their surrogates were stomping out Democracy around the world. Obama goes to Copenhagen.

Eventually, we’ll see the higher/exorbitant interest rates, exploding gasoline prices, ………..

He’ll probably have his hostages/Charlie Foxtrot rescue too. Foreshadowing – not giving the military want they need to get the job done.

As my brain is bombarded with more and more Carter era follies; realizing I could go on, and on, and on – of all the things adding up to “mostly” rather than “all”…… Something started tingling, way back in my conservative, Cro Magnon brain. It’s coming. Something, something, oh yes, something in math. Something about approaching a number, and although you’ll never get there, for all intense and pusposes, you’re there.

    Ergo, you’re right – “all”

  3. Barack makes George W Bush look competent and that’s hard to do.

BHO does seem to be approaching Carter-level ninnyness.

Carter was responsible for the rise of the Iranian hate state. Obama seems to be fostering the equivalent in South America. The man has not got a clue about spheres of influence and Putin (among others) is taking him to the woodshed.

    What a maroon.

  4. So IMAO is playing the “!!!–VICTIM–!!!” card for Obama? I don’t think so, Mr. J.

Obama is not a victim, he is a full and willing participant in the pantsing that current events is giving him. He just thinks that pants are not needed in the current political milieu, so there.

It is not that the emperor has no clothes and is ashamed of his nakedness, it is that he went forth naked thinking he was robed in splendor (despite all evidence to the contrary) that was his undoing.

  5. Obama just has to blame it all on the “Previous” Administration and the puppets in the press dance and sing Obama’s praises, cause we all know how Eeeeeevil that guy President Previous and Vice President Halliburton were.

Lord, can’t we get a grownup to lead this nation?

  6. As the United States weakens, the other (relatively) free nations of the Earth will finally realize that we’re not going to be able to bail them out like we’ve done before, and finally grow (or rediscover that they already have) a pair of their own.
France, England and Germany are showing signs of waking up; maybe it’ll spread.
It’ll suck for us, but it might be the best thing for them.
Let the EU be the world’s policeman for a few generations – see how they like it.

  7. In what way could this incompetent, monkey-headed, sh*t-stain be labeled “liberal”? He’s a friggen Stalinist.

Was Stalin a “liberal”? Was Mao?

I guess Pol Pot invented the gay pride parade, and Jane Fonda sewed the “real” American Flag…the one you burn.

  8. Q: Of all the Presidents we’ve had in the last 10 years, which one most resembles a chimpanzee?

    A: How dare you!!

Q: So you say Bush looks more like a chimp than Brakabama?

    A: How Daaaaaare Yoooo!

Q: Seriously. Which is it? You make the call.

    A: Hooooow Daaaaaaaaaaaare Yoooooooooou!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Q: So no comment?

A: Dammit, dude. Don’t you realize how spectacular this could all be if you’d just learn to drop the hate??

Q: So I guess we’ll go with “no comment” then.

  9. What an awesome take on things! I wish I had the resilience to look at it with humor. Thing is, after what we saw from around the beginning of 2002 to 2008, liberals who aren’t in power during wartime sure can act almost (in some cases, exactly) like fifth columnists. I’d rather have them out in the spotlight, where we can keep an eye on ’em and hang them with responsibility for their words and actions. But then they’re making the decisions, which is a bummer. Sigh. At least, in this country, the people have to consent to it. So really, the struggle is with the people you deal with every day — nice prayer there, Frank! (another post); I try not to punch too many a day, being a Buddhist and such stuff like that.

Obama is young enough to still be a little flexible, and he’s shown it a little bit, but it’s a rough world out there and we don’t have much time for him to grow into the role of a war leader — I know, but we can’t afford to laugh at that image. It’s got to be. I think Sarkozy, who’s more or less a conservative, recognizes that and was trying to encourage the big O a bit, rather than dissing the US, though with the French you never can tell. Still, the French aren’t so strong and independent right now that they can afford the jerk-the-US-around business as usual when we hang Poland out to dry…that sort of Polish precedent is not exactly heartwarming, at least on this side of what used to be the Iron Curtain.
