If we had rebuilt some towers at Ground Zero, no one would probably care about this mosque nonsense.
Saw a left winger sneering at people who think the Constitution actually guarantees guns but doesn’t guarantee gay marriage. For most people that is a simple issue since one is specifically mentioned and the other isn’t, but left seems sure about gay marriage and not guns.
I get the idea many on the left consider the Constitution more of a vague concept than an actual document written to mean something.
The Ground Zero mosque is bringing out the absolute worst in some Americans: Self-righteous lecturing.
The Ground Zero mosque is the perfect political story for slow news August, but I sure hope it doesn’t last any longer than that.
Didn’t Obama say we’re going to have a manned mission to an asteroid? Can the man he sends be Ron Paul?

Manned mission to an asteroid? Someone needs to say to Obama “you couldn’t find Uranus with both hands and a flashlight”
So the left now loves religion and religious buildings???
I understand in politics there will be some hypocrisy but this is like if the right now was:
-protesting gun ownership
-pro racial profiling to “even the score”
-Protesting the Iraq war
etc.
Hey, instead of a bar for gay moslems, let’s build a big “New Christian Church of the 10th Crusade” next door to the mosque site!! That way everyone will be happy!
Actually I know what it is Muslim churches aren’t in the lefts way of power by more then a 5% voting average. The left for as insane as they appear are frighteningly unified in their pragmatism.
The rule of leftists is if your group votes more then 5% advantage to republicans you are the enemy and have to be destroyed, stigmatized, and isolated. What about the 45% of that group that does vote dem you ask? Screw off your group does more harm then good is the unsaid response. They play the race card on us to evade and get out of things a lot (I dont know we let them they are almost all white) but they have to play it as “authenticity” to survive politically. As much as we loathe how often the left plays the race card on us the white leftists ruling class plays it on the non-whites in their own party even more often.
-Treatment of Clarence Thomas (treatment of Antia Hill vs Monica Lewinsky)
-Michael Steel had a lot of oreo cookies thrown at him during his Maryland election.
-Blacks in California after prop 8 were called n****ers by gays after it was shown 60% of blacks voted for OBama but (viewed as) against them with prop8
White married religious men vote about 60% republican need to be destroyed.
Marriages religious women vote 60% Rep so they have to be destroyed.
Single Women vote about 55% Dem so they are ok.
Hispanics vote 55-65% dem so they get the goodies basket until they can be locked down properly with the “not a Real Hispanic if your not democrat” argument like blacks have been.
Their whole setup reminds me of Aesops fable about the scorpion. I think most democrats know their party does this but think it benefits them. So when they eventually get stung by the scorpion I dont feel the need to blame the scorpion I blame the fool who thought he could bargain with it.
Maybe Obama could go to the asteriod himself. Oh, wait, it’s supposed to be a manned mission…maybe he could send Janet Napolitano.
Here is what’s happening, boys and girls: In case it’s slipped your mind, there is an election coming up in November. In the last few months the Republican party has been in the process of imploding (and it’s been so much fun to watch, too!) As I predicted over a year ago, the so-called “Tea Party” would end up being an albatross around their collective neck. Sure enough, the mindless extremism of these jokers is starting to scare the heck out of that mysterious segment of the electorate who describe themselves as “moderate”. What to do? Find an issue – any issue – that will distract the people. After a desperate search that took them weeks, they found that issue this week in lower Manhattan. Think about the real issues:
The economy
Two wars
Massive unemployment
A multi-trillion dollar debt
An environmental catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico….
….and what are we talking about? A non-existent “mosque”. Don’t forget that it’s a cultural center. The “mosque” (if that’s what you want to call it) consists of a single prayer room. If your prime source of information is FOX Noise, you’ll be forgiven for believing that the proposed center is smack dab on the site of the late World Trade Center – or across the street. It isn’t. It’s location is not even visible from the ground zero. In fact it’s about a five minute walk. And you wonder why America is the laughingstock of the planet?

Haven’t you heard? The Constitution is null and void because the people who wrote it were the wrong color.
(y,know…the BAD color)
@ccoffer
Is it the color of the every host on MSNBC?
Hey Tom, let’s talk about your “issuses”.
*The economy – everyone agrees it’s in the crapper and Obama’s approval rating on it is in the upper 30% range.
*Two wars – Iraq is winding down according to the plan laid out by BUSH. Afghanistan is a mess, and the only people who are even somewhat supportive of it are the Republicans, who won’t vote dem anyways.
*Massive unemployment – see the point about the economy.
*A multi trillion dollar debt – people are pissed and democrats are (rightly) getting the blame for it.
*An enviromental disaster in the Gulf of Mexico – at best, Obama’s leadership was ineffective; at worst he furthur mangled the economies of the gulf states with his moratorium and cost lots of people their jobs.
*And now the groud zero mosque – 70% of Americans are opposed to it, so who does Obama side with? The 30%.
You forgot to mention Obamacare, which the latest polls put as 60% want it repealed. Also the latest generic congressional ballot has Republicans up 9 friggin points. The highest ever recorded. So yeah, the tea party is really hurting Republican’s chances in the elections.
Note to self: when posting sanctimonious screeds about other people’s comments, try to spell everything correctly. Or at least the first sentence.
I have to share a story, that even I find hard to tie to any of today’s random thoughts. This story confirms what we know about liberals, and I laughed so hard when my sister told it to me that I, standing at the time, actually became light headed.
Save myself and my brother-in-law, everyone in my small extended family is a liberal. During our small annual reunion, which I normally skip, my brother-in-law, who leans right, got into a political discussion about immigration with my sister-in-law, who’s a resident of the People’s Republic of Cambridge, and who is quite clearly of the far, far loon left. Political discussions at family reunion are implicitly verboten. This is such the case that my sister attempted in vain to catch my brother-in-law’s eye in order to give him the universal finger across the neck “kill it” sign.
My brother-in-law Mike manages construction sites. He is a stand up guy and has literally come into contact with more types of folks than my yuppie sister-in-law will in her entire life. He lets you know exactly what he’s thinking and has never given any indication that he harbors even the slightest bigotry.
Anyhoo, sometime later, my sister-in-law caught my sister in a private moment. Said my sister-in-law to my sister, “I didn’t realize that Mike doesn’t think that Mexicans are lazy.”
Yes, that’s what they think we think. It’s not a label they apply to us. It’s a belief.
I know my sister-in-law well. She is the same person who — when I pointed out that the press does not inform us of our environmental success stories — said that it’s best that we don’t tell the public because they might get complacent. By the way, my sister is center-left, so she as well thought this was hilarious. Mebbe there’s hope.
Here is what’s happening, cats and kittens: There is an election coming up in November that I know you are all looking forward to. In the last few months the Democrat party has been in the process of imploding (and it’s been so much fun to watch, too!) As I predicted over a year ago, Obama would end up being an albatross around their collective neck.
….and what are Democrats talking about? A mosque that none but a few muslins want to build as a monument to the “brave martyrs” of 9/11. Actually, only some of the Democrats are talking about it – and those who do generally take back today what they said yesterday. If your prime source of information is NPR, you’ll be forgiven for believing that people expressing their displeasure with the GZ mosque is the second coming of the Third Reich. However, you won’t be forgiven for listening to NPR. And you wonder why Obama is the laughingstock of the planet?
DamnCat
“Is it the color of the every host on MSNBC?”
Of course, but they’re all well bred enough to feel incredibly guilty about it in a very righteous, noble and knowing way.
Oh Ernie
When you wrestle with a pig you both get dirty but the pig likes it.
Random thought: Still in Maine. The owners of the cottage I and my family are currently using is owned by a family of lobster fishermen. They took us on a tour yesterday. The father’s uncle built the boat and his grandfather owned a lobster business. The father’s son is eight and already knows how to haul the gear and what to do with bycatch. We saw seals, two bald eagles (It’s impossible to describe just how awesome those birds are), and porpoises.
Random thought: The difference between a hardcore conservative and a hardcore liberal is obvious. We want to protect the lobsterman’s right to do what he loves. They make the lobsterman pay up for, well, everything.
The Imam Rauf tells us, “No, this isn”t a Mosque, it’s an Islamic YMCA.” Can’t wait for Greg Gutfeld to invite The Village People to the Grand Opening.
“The Constitution is more what you’d call ‘guidelines’ than actual rules.Welcome aboard the Barack-Run-America.”— The Effete Pirate Barack
Well, yeah. That’s how they write things – vague, conceptual, pointing to conclusions rather than actually stating them. Voting “present” if you will. They cannot conceive that someone might actually make a declarative statement.
Averring a point, a decision, an ethic, requires taking responsibility for it. Not a concept that rests easily with Dems and Progs and Libs.
“Saw a left winger sneering at people who think the Constitution actually guarantees guns but doesn’t guarantee gay marriage. For most people that is a simple issue since one is specifically mentioned and the other isn’t, but left seems sure about gay marriage and not guns.”
Once you realize that none of them have ever actually read the Constitution it makes much more sense. After all, they also believe that it states that there’s a “separation of church and state” outlined as well.
Perhaps if, instead of writing the Constitution on parchment, it had instead been Twittered or rapped by Fitty Cent they might be able to comprehend it more easily.
Live Free Or Die – maybe The Village People could add a new muslim (ahem) member to their group: Osama ben Dover
So if a Gay man wants to marry a Gay woman what’s the big deal? I don’t have a problem with Gay marriage…
We should rebuild the towers bigger and better than before. Then the mosque is just a whimper of impotent rage instead of a monument of conquest.
I say we make the towers taller, build three instead of two and make them in the shape of crosses.
“Didn’t Obama say we’re going to have a manned mission to an asteroid?”
Yes, but what’s actually going to happen is the Democrats are going to have a failed mission to remove our political foot from his ass.
American people can not see this list too often.

Vaguely topical, kinda: I often wonder if most liberals realize the Constitution is an actual paper-and-ink document. It’s written in plain English, and is quite easy to read. It is the governing document of our country, self-contained, written and signed by 18th century men. It simply was not written to cover every imaginable scenario. The framers could not have foreseen the events, technologies, and attitudes of following generations. However, the Constitution was written with an eye and ear toward the intense philosophical, economic, political, and religious debates engaged in by the Framers prior to its execution in multiple drafts, ratification, and initial amendments.
I’m neither a Constitutional lawyer nor a Constitutional scholar, but I am an attorney who practices in Federal court who took every Constitutional Law class her law school offered, and I’ve read The Federalist Papers seemingly innumerable times. Frankly, I don’t see where there is room to argue over most of it. The Constitution delineates CLEARLY what powers are granted to the Federal government (and to which branch those powers are granted), that ALL OTHER POWER is reserved to the states, and the process for changing things. Arguing that the First Amendment gives people the right to say or do absolutely anything that they want SHOULD be obviously fallacious; the same goes for saying that the Commerce Clause grants the Federal government the right to regulate absolutely anything and everything.
It isn’t actually the Constitution that has given so much power to the Federal government, which now stands barely shy of breathing down our necks in the shower like an uninvited ex, but rather Federal jurisprudence, where appointed judges are merely making up the law as they go, supported by two houses of Congress churning out more legislation than the Framers could have imagined when drafting the Constitution.
The only solution I can see is replacing all elected and appointed officials with heads of cabbage to stop the seemingly unending spew of paper, giving the greatest minds of our time a chance to read over everything, interpret it, debate it in public forums, and finally figure out the whole damned mess.
I’d also feel pretty nice if they reached my conclusion, threw out everything but the Constitution, and threw out all the politicians, as well. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
/rant over 🙂
shiggz: Most of the names on that list were not surprising. Thanks for sharing that with us. It just is a confirmation of what I thought about them all along.
DamnCat, your post #12 was a pure work of genius…my hat is off to you.
Random Thought: Liberals are ok with treading on rights when it’s for the person’s own good. So let’s try using that on the mosque. Since the people who want to build it are moderate muslims and there’s no one that radical muslims hate more than moderate muslims, let’s move it out of an area we know radical muslims can and have attacked before. For their own safety.
ussjimmycarter @ #19, I agree:
There once was a poof from Khartoum,
Took a lesbian up to his room,
But they argued all night
Over who had the right
To do what and with which and to whom.
Wake up and put Ron Paul in the White House. Watch him on youtube and listen to his own words. No one supports the Constitution, limited federal government, liberty, fiscal responsibility and free markets like Ron Paul. Check out his voting record. You won’t find a better president!
RON PAUL!!!1!!!!!1!!11!!!ELEVENTY!!!
Who says the left has a monopoly on crazy?
Build a giant robot at the WTC site. (ask the Japanese to help – from what I see on TV, they’re good at that kind of thing.)
In time of peace, it’s an office building; but in case of attack, it can duck, then retaliate!
