Random Thoughts: Akin Distraction

Even if Akin wins, he’s always going to be that weird guy who thinks women’s bodies are magical.

How many politicians will quietly go from the potential for getting higher political office? Remember Crist?

You have to remember, pretty much all politicians are sociopaths.

Claire McCaskill does have the high ground on rape since she’s refusing to go to the DNC since a known rapist will be speaking there.

PolitiFact has rated Hank Williams Jr.’s claim that Obama is a “Muslim” who “hates the U.S.” as “partly true.”

Senator is a job anyone can do. Just vote yes and no. All we need is someone who is not a distraction. Like a mute.

This is a nice little distraction, but it should go away as long as Akin doesn’t say anything else stupid. What are Intrade odds on that?

Campaign advice for Akin: Run ads reminding voters that McCaskill voted for Obamacare. Cut out own tongue.

U.S. Senator does seem like one of the cushiest jobs if you can get it. We’ve seen the dummies who’ve coasted in it for decades.

The Republican National Convention is next week? Well, when are they sending me my speaking invite?

I can’t believe Nintendo Power magazine is ending. Remember the Castlevania II cover that gave you nightmares?

That Sandusky guy sure made child molesters unpopular.

Akin says the liberal media is trying to get him to drop out. Well, they’re among those.

Who invented the cheese grater? He had to be like the Stephen Hawking of his day.

Actually, I don’t know of anything Stephen Hawking has done that’s benefited me. But the cheese grater guy helps brighten my every day.

Remember all those people who used to protest for nuclear disarmament? How did that turn out?

  1. But women’s bodies ARE magical, Frank. Legitimately. Why, just the other day, I learned that if they don’t like some thing, they have ways to try to shut that whole thing down.

    Some of the ways:

    * “zzzzzzzzz…”
    * “Not just now.”
    * “I have a headache.”
    * “Take out the garbage!”
    * “Do these pants make me look fat?”

  2. Don’t we all think Women’s bodies are magical? Mysterious at least, and I paid attention in health class.

    Sure its dark evil magic at least 2 days a month, but the rest of the time it can be fascinating.

  3. Weather forecasters are worried about a hurricane interrupting the Republican Convention next week.

    Hurricane “Isaac.”

    So, it could blow a little harder. Not to worry.

    (What happened to “Nuke The News,” anyway?)

  4. “Remember all those people who used to protest for nuclear disarmament? How did that turn out?”

    I remember the musicians that held “No Nukes” concerts to stop the building of any new nuclear power plants too. These days, most of them live in California and enjoy “rolling blackouts.”

  5. We’ve seen the dummies who’ve coasted in it for decades.

    Not Teddy Kennedy. He didn’t coast. He was positively driven. Well, actually, he was the driver. Mary Jo Kopechne was the one who was driven.

  6. “Actually, I don’t know of anything Stephen Hawking has done that’s benefited me. But the cheese grater guy helps brighten my every day.”

    At least the cheese grater guy is a productive member of society. Not just a mealy mouthed physicist who knows math but can’t make nachos!

    Akin could use one of those cry baby hippies to go on You Tube and tell everybody to leave him alone!

    democrats commit murder, rape, and are classless, but thats okay. A Republican makes one bad mistake and watchout! He is evil and doesn’t know anything about rape or women! democrats suck.

  7. I may be late to the game responding, Frank, but I’ve got to agree with Jimmy and hwuu. Women’s bodies ARE magical.
    OK, not the way Akin thinks, but he’s only taken his male delusion just a half step or two further than the rest of us do.
    Let me cite some examples purely at random:
    1) They make GREAT marketing attractions.
    2) They make fantastic (and legal) wives.
    3) They make babies (a good 51% or so of which grow up to be magical creatures themselves).

    If you’ll jump in the old WayBack Machine and recall a certain “T-Shirt Babe” contest, you’ll realize I’m saying nuthin’ but the absolute historical truth.

    Go ahead and tell me SarahK’s not magic, and I mean while she’s in the room. I dare ya!

  8. My suggestion to concerned conservatives possessing a medical background: Even if you have rock-solid, documented and repeatable scientific proof that rape just flat-out can’t result in pregnancy, keep it to yourself until after the election, because “perception” is important, and people perceive such claims as being “stupid” and “insane”.

    If, on the other hand, the data shows that rape simply makes pregnancy LESS likely, well – word to the wise – you might want to keep a lid on that as well, because in this life there just are certain stormclouds within which you really shouldn’t bother trying to find a silver lining.

    You can prove this to yourself at home! Say the following in the mirror, and try to sound sensitive: “Well, I’m really sorry you got raped, but at least you probably aren’t going to end up pregnant from it.”

    See? Can’t be done! That’s “Insensitive Jerkspeak” no matter how you say it.

    Save Insensitive Jerkspeak for budgetary discussions, where it is really, really needed.

  9. Frank asked “Who invented the cheese grater?”

    I suggest that it was probably the same people who invented the pedal-powered bicycle. That’s right, the French!
    You see, the Germans hadn’t progressed past the Fred-Flintstone-styled “scoot bike” model, so it took a couple of French stereotypes, both named “Pierre” (No! Seriously! I’m not kidding about that! They were both named Pierre! How spectacularly French is that?!) to create such a wonder.

    History records their landmark conversation:

    Pierre M.: “Vous essayez de me faire tuer!”

    And thus are cullinary milestones made.
