So I played through Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
Anyway, my one big complaint about the game: The guns are stupid looking. They’re big weird blocky things. This is because the game takes place in the future, so they’re supposed to be new future guns. Except it takes place in 2025 — only 12 years in the future. Think about what guns were like back in 2001 versus today. Pretty much no noticeable difference. Yet, I’m supposed to believe in the next 12 years there will be some sort of gun renaissance where there will be basically no recognizable guns left but only weird-looking things.
Come on, people; one of the reasons people like these games is the realistic guns, so don’t throw this future crap at us.
Oh, and a question for people who play Call of Duty: Do you like that zombie mode? I’ve tried it a couple times and don’t get it. You shoot zombies until you die, trying to get a high score — except they’re kind boring zombies to shoot. People enjoy that?
I’m a 50 year old gamer. I’ve played all the COD games. I’ve never liked Zombie mode. Maybe it appeals to the younger crowd.
The USS Obama really pissed me off at first. Then it was sunk. So that was a plus.

Yeah, you can just imagine all the people fighting not to get assigned to that ship. Funny they also had cameos by Oliver North and David Petraeus — though I find the idea of him being Secretary of Defense in the future kind of unlikely now.
I bought the Halo series (Combat Evolved, 3, and Reach). Heard good things about them, such as smarter teammates and rewarding smarter tactics.
My kids will play the zombie mode, but not a lot. If there was an in-game reward for it, I might try to get higher levels. Reach L10 and get the option to have double ammo or thicker body armer during campaign mode, so you’re encouraged to try harder levels. Optional, of course.
So, please answer the age old question: Are there tubers in the future?
My 15-year old daughter plays COD Black Ops. She was wildly excited about Zombie mode because, hey – zombies! …… until she actually played it. Booooring. So I think it is marketed to the younger crowd, who will see “Zombie Mode” on the label and think “Score! Zombies!”, but I don’t think Zombie Mode actually appeals to anyone, once they have played it. (Her friends think it is boring, too.)
The Zombie mode might be more popular if they had a cool, sing-along video at the end.

Hey, and why not review a real He-Man video game, like Plants vs Zombies?
Once you set up your defense, you can leave the room to get another beer and some more chips, and the game plays itself.
What’s not to love? 😉
