In geodesy, the Earth’s ellipsoidal “flattening” is referred to as “1/f” where f = 298.25722 (approx., depending on whose model you’re using). So, there is some flattening of the Earth. @4, Paragraph 1: I like how Jimmy knows that. (I knew that the Earth was an oblate spheroid, but that was where my knowledge stopped. I didn’t know there was mathematical specificity to it. Google even gives the flattening ratio for Jupiter.) Live and learn. Reply to this comment
