From Money Pit to Money Mountain

Nancy Pelosi bragged about government spending: “in this smart phone almost everything came from federal investments and research… GPS, created by the military, flat screens… digital camera, wireless data compression…federal research invented it.”

What the feds didn’t invent – a way to make any of it profitable.

  1. Just think how much more government (CONTRACTORS, not EMPLOYEES) could “invent” if they didn’t spend trillions on welfare leaches and “climate change” propaganda.

  2. Not going to research that stuff but Eastman Kodak gave a young 24 or so year old a piece of existing technology in the early-mid 70’s and said go find a use for this. He invented the digital camera, able to produce an amazing 100 X 100 pixel photo, and million pixel cameras were not far off. Kodak made millions in royalties but largely stayed out of the market, sticking with film.

  3. Paying someone else to create something is not the same as creating it yourself. At most, government was the patron for some of those products. At the same time, government investment paid uncountable billions for stuff that was of no use to anyone, but it was quite profitable for the people getting the money.
