It took about 20 years, but I did get to see KISS in concert in 1997. I took my son. It was fun.

Never saw them in concert.
Did listen to one album, which probably got played down to a wafer.
Older brothers are cool.
I note that it was their music, not their stage show, that attracted the radio-oriented, album-oriented, pre-MTV generation. We knew, of course, about the stage show. We knew that was their claim to fame, their gimmick, their bid to get exposure.
I think the opposite is the norm today.
Without the original, where would we get stories like the fabled near-brawl between dwarf tribute bands MiniKiss and Tiny Kiss?

Fine choice with “Shout It”. KISS had some good hits. The make-up and costumes, yeah, kind of “meh”. They were post-Alice Cooper in that department.
I got to take my kids too. In the 2014 tour with Def Leppard. I’m glad I got to take them, one really got into the show. I thought it was funny when Paul Stanley asked how many people “brought their kids tonight”.
Kiss lost me at the solo albums.
Were they wearing the makeup in ’97? I know they quit for a while but I was never a big fan so I don’t remember exactly when they stopped and started back again. I remember when I was about 6 the neighbor kid got one of those metal lunchboxes with KISS on it. Being raised very strictly religious (church 3 times a week until I moved out of the house) I was both appalled and intrigued by it.
