I don’t know about others, but my first experiences in creating fiction usually occurred during conversations with my parents.
I once pointed out to a friend that in the series of books that I was reading, I could easily pick out biblical figures and I’m not even well versed on the Bible.
He responded that many sciece fiction books use biblical characters. I haven’t tested his theory yet but I’m willing to look into it.
Well Heinlein had a character of Lazarus Long.
