  1. Be kind to your web footed friends,
For that duck may be somebody’s mother
She lives in a hole in a swamp
Where the weather is always damp
You may think that this is the end:
Well it is, but to prove that we’re all liars
We’re going to sing it again,
But only this time we will sing a little higher

Repeat as many times as you like (or stand) rising in pitch with each repeat.

    Last verse :
Be kind to your web footed friends,
For that duck may be somebody’s mother
She lives in a hole in a swamp
Where the weather is always damp
You may think that this is the end:
    Well, it is!

    • Someone foolishly thought it was a good idea to teach us that song when we were kids. My poor parents — the quaintness of it must’ve worn out after the first hundred renditions on family trips!

  2. My late grandmother got to see then Lt. Commander (USNR) Sousa conduct the USN band in a performance of The Stars and Stripes Forever! during WWI. And I’m certain she’ll be back to haunt me tonight for even HINTING at her true age.
