I think she’s handled this pretty well. The mayor and city council have taken away her non-lethal means of crowd control, putting the police in the situation of facing a numerically superior crowd of rioters with only lethal means of self-defense. Either a protester is going to get shot, in which case ANTIFA gets a martyr and the cop gets charged with murder, igniting a whole new round of riots; or a cop gets killed because of hesitation to defend him/herself. The mob then gets the head of an enemy for a trophy.
Best has gone over the heads of the mayor and council directly to the people and informed them of what is going to happen and why, and that the mayor and council are fully aware of the consequences of their orders. She’s put the mayor in the position of either backing down on the non-lethal crowd control tools, or firing her for insubordination. Her being fired for standing up for her cops and her residents would have a far greater impact across the country than her merely resigning in protest.
Having a foot on both banks usually means you will fall into the river. Places run by these Democrats are going to burn until November because that’s what they want. After November they hope to take it on the road to the rest of America.
