I’m not sure about Arlo Guthrie.

I had a friend that introduced this song to me when I was in middle school, I think. I’ve always enjoyed it. People from other places used to say this was played on their rock station every Thanksgiving. Maybe it was played on my local station too but I guess I never heard it because I was always out of town at a family members house for Thanksgiving. The only other song from this album I liked was The Motorcycle Song.
I do remember hearing Cheech and Chong’s Santa Claus and His Old Lady on my local radio station at Christmas time.
Can you get anything you want?
Asking for a friend…
Well, he just might get what he needs.
…only at Alice’s Restaurant
One of my favorites, though I think it’s the only Arlo Guthrie tune I like. The album is half good, half worthless – that’s because half the album is this song – seriously. You need to get it on vinyl to fully appreciate that fact!
All of the above commentators report to the Group ”W” bench immediately!
Not on this album, but I like a lot of Arlo’s music
City of New Orleans (by Steve Goodman)
Coming into Los Angeles
his rendition of Amazing Grace
I remember reading some leftie journalist got the interview of a lifetime with Arlo. Not only did Arlo admit he did take some artistic license with Alice’s Restaurant, he also admitted to being a registered Republican. Leftie journo crushed.
