I remember when we got our first color TV.
Some of you know that feeling. Some of you kids have no idea. But it used to be that if you had a TV set, it was likely a black-and-white set. You must remember, the commercial broadcast networks were still making some TV shows in black-and-white as late as 1967. Nighttime programs has gone all color during the previous TV season.
Color TV was a big deal. Shows used to have the words “In Color” below the title to let people know they were in color. Why couldn’t they tell just by looking at all the reds, blues, and greens? Because most of the U.S. was watching on black-and-white TVs, that’s why.
Anyway, it was a big deal. Color TV was fascinating. We even looked to animated ducks to tell us about it.

The funniest thing I’ve seen today was Nancy Pelosi claiming Kavanaugh was going to bring back segregation.
I guess stuff like separate proms, separate rooms for blacks, separate everything for ‘people of color’, you know, all the stuff Dems have been pushing.
Made me laugh it did.
No mention of segregating TVs of color though.
That’s different because…LOOK SQUIRREL!
Remember NBC’s peacock coming out center-screen to show you that the following program was in color?
And the opening to “Police Squad” — “In Color!” That’s why that satire worked so well — programs actually did have voice-overs that said that.
I’m the proud owner of the entire Police Squad series on DVD.
The satire in the first two paragraphs of this article was notable. Kind of like something I’d expect to read from Frank, Harvey, or Basil:

The coming of color tv’s was indeed great. But think about, wasn’t the coming of the remote control even greater?
It was for me.
As the youngest, I was the remote control.

I don’t remember getting our first color tv. I do remember watching Kojak in black and white so we must’ve been latecomers to the color fad.
It was 1971, and we not only didn’t have a color TV, our Black and White was perpetually (seriously years) broken.
Used to go spend the night at my friend’s houses on Friday nights so I could watch “Creature Features” on Friday night and OF COURSE Saturday Morning Cartoons…. And some of them had COLOR TVs!
When I mounted my own family’s first HDTV to the wall, it felt like VICTORY over my poor white trashy life…
And now there are 7 HDTVs in my house and they are all able to access anything. Who says the American Dream is dead?
