Friday Night Open Thread

In recent weeks, some of you have had pretty good non-sequiturs that you brought up (like hairballs) on Open Threads. Sometimes it’s hard to go off-topic in a regular thread.

And sometimes I forget to post an Open Thread, because I forget to post an Open Thread.

  1. How’s y’all doing this fine evening? Do we still have an FBI monitor here? I haven’t had any totally not suspicious non-descript vans with odd assortments of antennae following me around lately.

I’ll take it as another benefit of a Trump victory.

    • I’m CIA…I and Chuck Barris(Gong Show) used to work together as CIA Operatives for a while in the 70’s spying on the King of Mongolia with only a couple of pack 🫏 mules and some funny tasting food.

  2. Just want my USA friends and any Canadian friends here to know that of all this will blowover. I live 2 miles from the largest steel producer in North America and all of us are worried about all of our fellow Canadians..everyone in my small town ..
All I can say is that I am Canadian..My grandfather is buried in Smethport Pennsylvania..I visit his grave regularly…we are one…stay the course..

  3. Regarding Yippie, Yappie, and Yahooie, of Hannah Barberra fame, I conclude the following. Putting aside the given that they are dogs and the King’s guards although they look more like three musketeers., I believe that they were “filler” characters, developed as a stop-gap until the writers could come up with something more interesting. And keep the paycheck coming.

Yippie is an average, non-de script dog of no apparent personality. Yappie is the dumb one, and Yahooie is the Jerry Lewis clone from the “Dean Martin and…” era.

To be honest it started with two strikes against it. One being that it’s a medieval setting not easily crossed over to its Yogi counterparts.

And two, it was the “B” cartoon for the Peter Potamus show.

    Yup. It was filler.
