Principles for Sale (Cheap)

Waiting for that Obama’s speech on Wright. I wonder if he’ll later have to distance himself from his wife:

“I never in our years together heard her make such statements against America and I would have divorced her years ago if I had.”

He could later use about that same statement to distance himself from the Democratic Party.
UPDATE:
I think he did really well, talking very positively about America while not completely throwing his pastor under the bus. Almost makes me want to take the blue pill and vote for him.
Anyway, there’s plenty in it to pick at, but I don’t think any flaw will overwhelm the speech in its entirety. I just hope news networks will nip in the bud the suggestion that’s Wright’s crap is par for the course with black churches. Obama reinforced that idea, and it’s quite a bit venomous to just let it sit there.

  1. I must take this opportunity to renounce the comments of FrankJ with regard to Barry “Hoprah” Obama. Though I’ve been a loyal lurker and poster here for almost 50 years, the posts I read here were always humorous and meant to uplift, to unite, and done in a spirit of healing and fun.
And I will not stop reading and posting here, because I appreciate all of the good things he does, such as calling for the moon to be nuked and making fun of liberals. Can you imagine anything more uplifing, uniting, or more in the spirit of healing and fun than that?
And anyone who says Frank is not, like me, an uplifter and uniter is obviously a gay racist.

  2. Obama said…

In the white community, the path to a more perfect union means acknowledging that what ails the African-American community does not just exist in the minds of black people; that the legacy of discrimination and current incidents of discrimination, while less overt than in the past, are real and must be addressed.

I suppose I’m a member of “the white community”. Funny I don’t remember signing up going to any meetings. I guess I’m just a member of this guilty bunch because of the color of my skin.
Apparently, since I’m white, I am responsible for any bad things that white people do AND the bad things that happen to black people AND the bad things they do themselves are also my fault too. Sounds just like something Rev Wright would say.

  3. DamnCat,
And that from a guy who had the opportunity to graduate from Harvard, who’s black wife graduated from Princeton and makes $300,000 per year, and who is currently in the running for President of the United States.
Poor black guys can’t get ahead…damn whitey!

  4. Words can’t change facts, and Obama has been going to that church for 20 years. Nothing he can say could convince me that he was either just attending for political cred or actually believes in this bull-defecation.

  5. He basically indicated that the pastors remarks were due to “memories” of the past. And that because the pastor had these “memories” it was somehow understandable that that pastor made the statments that generated this discussion.
WELL I CALL BULLSHIT on that type of logic!
Look, its very simple. The PASTOR is a RACIST. Obama spent 20 years under his “Spiritual Guidance”. That I am somehow expected to believe that Obama neither knew of the Pastor’s perspectives, nor was influenced by the same, is INSULTING to my limited intelligence.
If Obama wants to UNITE something, he can unite his lips to my ass

  6. I’m starting to feel pretty oppressed myself. You know, my people were enslaved by the Romans, the Visigoths (not the creepy, depressed kids with eye makeup), the Norse, as well as whitey (I’m 1/64 some kind of Indian…errr, Native American). And no one wants to recognize my grievances either. Where do I get in line for my forty acres and a mule? But I don’t want that forty acres somewhere crappy like Ohio, and I really don’t want the responsibility of taking care of livestock…so I’ll settle for 20 acres somewhere way the hell out there in Montana, and a good dog, like a German Shepherd. See, I can be reasonable.
But seriously, every people was enslaved, every people was discriminated against. But even those filthy Irish got over it and moved on.

  7. I had no idea I was a racist.
I thought being racist meant being discriminitory or prejudiced to someone because of skin color or race. Boy was I wrong. I had no idea I was a racist just because I was born white. Barak showed me the light. I for one would like to apologize Barak Obama, his preacher and the entire world for being born white. I’d also like to apologize for that whole AIDS thing. My bad. Again sorry for being white.

  8. Now just a minute, here. I seem to recall one conservative-type after another getting reamed because everyone parsed the holy fartcrackers out of something they said. (Does the name Lott ring a bell?) Guilt by association was made pretty much D.C. law. None of them – none of them – had done anything remotely like sitting in a pew where a bigoted, racist, victicratic hatemonger preached for 20 freakin years. “Snippets,” my fat keister.
And if anyone can’t tell the difference between voicing a potentially unpopular opinion and inciting to violence, well, they need the IMAO Hippy Treatment. And then exile to a nice Iranian madrassa.

  9. The fact is that there are racists and bigots of every stripe and bar. From those who use deroggatory remarks “even the FILTHY Irish got over it” to those who make a living using gutter language to degrade and offend.
Fat people, skinny people, blondes, brunettes, Mexicans, Polish, Conservative, Liberal, young, old, Catholic, Jew, Mormon, the list of those who have been picked on, overlooked and spat upon can go on and on and on. The big difference as I see it is what one does about it.
For years there were signs in many cities in the east, “no Irish need apply”. So they took the jobs Americans didn’t want to do. Four of my ancestors swept streets in Baltimore. They became policemen and firemen, teachers and coal truck drivers. They did what they could and worked their way into the society. They didn’t separate themselves and expect everyone to “love” them. They proved their worth instead of expecting everything to be given to them.
Hence my disgust with Wright and Obama. Get off the dole, get out and work and parent your children. Once you do that then maybe there’ll be some empathy for your “sufferen'”

  10. Wow, I feel so dirty and unclean now that I know I am a racist. I am glad Hussein Obamam let me know. Have y’all ever seen that Saturday Night Live where Eddie Murphy dressed up as a ‘whitey’ to see what that was like? I feel so embarassed because of the ‘White Community,’ I may have turn myself African American (or whatever the appropriate term today is).
Why did I have to be born white…. Why?!?!?!?!?!?
Soon enough, I will no longer be a racist… muah ha ha. And all YOU whities, will…
    Ahem

  11. I find it funny that he seems to think he’s the living embodiment of a “West Wing” speech or a Bill Clinton statement where he can just pass for saying things like Talk Radio hosts built their entire careers on blasting affirmative action. Like that was the only dumb@ss move of the Left that could be discussed in the last 15 years. If he actually listened and knew what he was talking about, he’d have a lot more ammo to use on Hillary, that’s certain.
He also reminded me of an ACLU speaker who I nailed between the eyes for giving a propaganda speech, which made an otherwise-leftist crowd roar with laughter at him. (It would take a while to explain) He started making platitudes about how the US was the most wonderful country on earth and other such “you can’t disagree with me” applause lines. This is smoke and mirrors that the far-left uses when busted for being hypocrites.

Read this and the linked article at the bottom about Obama’s mom and wife. A lot makes sense now… we have the Rage Against The Machine candidate.
